GLB 250 A Service Mileage

Greetings,

I have a 2020 GLB with around 5500 miles that was purchased new in Sept 2020. I just saw a notice pop up about A service being due. I’ve never seen one pop up that early on a Mercedes. Usually right around 10,000. Anyone else noticed an early A service indicator ?

thanks!

Service intervals are 10,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first and the clock starts ticking once the car has been produced. I'm guessing the production date of this car is Feb 2020, so it's been 12 months.

I’m not 100% sure that’s always true though. I bought my GLB recently and I can seethe service indicator in the car and in my MercedesMe app says that the next service is exactly 1 year later from the date I picked up my car. Perhaps considering checking with the Dealer on this, I think they’re supposed to reset maybe..not sure

Some dealers do an oil change during the PDI and reset the service reminder of the car if it has been sitting on the lot for a while, but this doesn't always happen.

Never heard of this. Why would a dealer do an oil change for PDI? The initial oil from the factory has additives to help with the engine break in. Besides, the in-service date (when you leave with your car from the dealer) start the clock ticking on your warranty and service intervals unless you purchased a demo in which case the in-service date is when it was officially registered to the dealer as a loaner vehicle.

So that the new owner doesn't have to do an early oil change. They do it for cars that sat for a while on the lot before they get sold. No there are no additives in the oil for break-in. BMW does that on their M models and that's why they need an oil change right after break-in, but MB doesn't do it with any of their models. Wouldn't be a good idea to leave a break-in oil in there for 10,000 miles.

All MB's leave the factory with Mobil 1 synthetic oil and have done so since 1997.. The use of break-in oils is no longer done in most cases. Seems to me that the OP has a premature service notice and should maybe check with their dealer about it.
