Have any Western US folks had their order ship to the Brunswick VPC instead of Longbeach? If so, what was the transit time to your dealership? Our C450 that was produced in Vance took over 2 weeks to get to us by rail.

2017 GLC300
It's hard to tell if you were played. I'm still waiting for mine. I actually found myself so tired of waiting that I ended up buying a Porsche Macan GTS, loaded! Been having fun driving it around. We left the deposit on the GLC300 we ordered in December, in case when it arrives and my wife looks at it, she wants it.

I had gotten so tired of not knowing that I called Penske Corporate and left a message with their VP of East Coast operations. To his credit, he called me back within hours, profusely apologized at my frustration, said he would look into where the car is and when it might get to me, and then shared with me that in his 30 years in the car business he's never seen anything like the GLC300 sales pace and MB is having a hard time keeping up. Anyway, by the end of the day they had identified where my car was in the build process and they gave me an estimate of end of April arrival at their dealership in the Mid-Atlantic. I think the salesman was a little irked I called Penske Corporate, but I think at this point, I deserved something more than "we'll let you know later".

We got about 11.7% off MSRP ($5,900) and $250 off the dealer processing fee. But from what I hear discounts on it are rare.

Anyone else here have the GLC300 and a Macan GTS? Thoughts on whether anyone looked at both and decided on one or the other?

The statuses on the confirmation indicate they had space in their initial 2018 allocation. The head honcho called and said the official date is August but he expects to see the first units as early as the first week in July.

For me, it will be interesting to see how this compares to a BMW we ordered last March 1. That one was 5-6 weeks from production week to delivery. It went through the Panama Canal to CA and then to Colorado by truck. It's my understanding that the Mercedes will go to Baltimore then to Colorado by truck. That should be faster.

I think most go on a vessel from Wallenius, but that is not always the case - mine is on a different carrier so typing the VIN on the Wallenius site gave 'no results'. Mine is on a ship from "K-Line" which does not have VIN tracking but getting the ship name let me track it.

2017 GLC300 4MATIC
Just noticed this post after having written a long writeup in another about our Euro delivery.

Ordered late last year; built in Jan; picked up in Feb on placed on boat the 17th; arrived Long Beach April 9th; now awaiting delivery.... counting the days.... need it by the 18th April (Tuesday)

Worth pointing out that original ETA of the Ruby Ace in Long Beach was the 28th of March..... go figure?

^^^^^ another inspiring story. Thanks! Well, our boat docked in Long Beach early Sunday morning (the 9th). It looks like MOST people have car in hand 7-10 days later. So I think we can still hold our breath and hope we get the car by Tuesday, i.e., port + 9 days

2012 Audi A6, GLC 300 4Matic
My GLC300, really my wife's

Another update 16 April 2017
Tranquil Ace unloaded on or near 6 April, we were notified the dealer had the car on 9 April, that's fast from all accounts and it was delivered to us 12 April.

It was the exact model and options we had ordered and was in great shape with the exception of the paint. Most of body has what painters call "blush" meaning there is a very slight fog/dull sheen which appears to be overlaying the paint. This can be taken care of with paint prep prior to applying protective coat (wax/teflon/ceramic, whatever floats your boat) during detailing. The hood (bonnet) however was another story. In my detailers words it looked like the paint was put on heavy causing barely discernible waves/cratering. This is going to require wet sanding the hood. The goal of course is to flatten the paint without going through the clear coat, all the while leaving enough clear for future buffing should that be required. The detailer assures me that it can be done. I hate to think this is normal for a company like MB but it may be a consequence of the GLCs popularity. During our review of the car before signing the paperwork, I did notice something about the paint on the hood but in the delivery area lighting it did not look all that bad. I did look again when we were at home, and immediately went to our trusted detail shop. I will take photos of the before and after and send to my SA. I've even thought about asking the dealer to comp the detail because of the faulty paint, we'll see.

With all of that said, both my wife and I love the car. We are both still learning the ins and outs of maneuvering around in the menus. Simple things like changing from listening to FM radio to satellite radio without a preset is not intuitive at least to us. Learning MBs NAVI is also interesting. Without changing any settings, we tried a simple route from the dealer to home. The system planned a route that approached a freeway on a road with an entrance, but turned us short of the entrance to go one mile then get on the freeway, then rather than stay on the freeway until the exit closest to our home, NAVI had us get off and use surface streets the rest of the way (about 5 miles). Essentially the same distance since the freeway parallels the surface road. We will learn the ins and outs, it will just take a little time.

Like I said earlier we both love the car so far and we hope to have a long relationship with it.

7 March 2017 Update: Just heard from my dealer that our GLC300 is on the Tranquil Ace. Tracking site shows the ship a few hundred kilometers west of Spain with port of call Davisville Rhode Island on Mar 17. Since I'm in Arizona, I assume some future destination will be on the west coast, or will they transfer to train transport? I will of course continue to track the ship. Now the waiting becomes more difficult.

Updated from original post on 1-26-2017
Here's my build. When I ordered, a couple of the options we wanted were back ordered at factory so time from order to build/delivery were a bit long. Wife and I decided we wanted all desired options rather than settling for car we didn't really want. As of the beginning of January we didn't have a build date.

daggis -- nice ride! How do you like the 350e so far? Pricing isn't out here in the US for 350e vs 300, but roughly how much extra does that cost?

Looks like you opted for the amg grill as well?

2010 Genesis Coupe
Location: Arlington, VA
Ordered on: 4/25/17
Production Start Date: Early June
Delivery estimate: Late July

My Build:

18GLC300W4
Lunar Blue
Black MB-Tex
P01 Premium Package
321 Sport Package
521 Night Package
632 LED Headlamps
698 20" AMG Multi-Spoke Wheels w/ Black Accents
810 Burmester
846 Running Boards
736 Dark Ash Wood Trim

Couple of questions + looking for advice since this is :

1) I originally wanted the beige MB-Tex, but since I can only get Black MB-Tex with the sport+night packages, what interior trim would look best? In the show room I was conflicted. Most looked good so I went with the Dark Brown Linden, but the dark wood ash is nice as well. I was told the Aluminum isn't an option for MY18.

2) I went with the LED Headlamps, and not the LED package that I've heard about, mostly because I'm not sure of what is included in the package or if it's worth it. Can anyone speak to that?

3) Ride quality of 20" vs 19" wheels is a concern -- should I have anything to worry about?

4) Dealership asked I double my deposit because I was ordering a "very strange car" since I wasn't going with a panoramic roof. Seemed like a bad practice on their end but I went with it since it's a refundable deposit so who cares, but still. More importantly, should I consider the roof more? I've never used them in the past but never had one that looked this nice, either.

5) I wanted to consider the 350e as well but with no information out about it for a US buyer it's hard to justify waiting around on my hands until more comes out. I want to like it...

Last edited by gnawmean; 05-01-2017 at 03:20 PM. Reason: updated with dark wood trim

Yes i got my dealer to change the grill to AMG type (Black one, not silver)

So far very good! I charge it every night, and also have option to charge it at work if i want. First month 1054km - 4,2 l/100km.

In norway the price of GLC350e dropped after newyear because the goverment reduced taxes for chargable hybrid cars - and the hybrid model is the cheapest of the models.

But to buy a car in norway is really expensive, the picture shows start prices in the configurator for the different models:

Very very slow
Interesting that the GLC350e is using the 7G transmission, while the rest using the newer 9 speed transmission.

Would get the pano. Very nice. Would get 19 over 20s for ride comfort. Dark Linden is pretty but does show scratches.

^^ +1, I would get the pano roof and 19s if this were my car. They'd be a better ride/handling compromise and the savings would offset some of the cost of the pano roof.

RE: Wood trim, consider the H09 Brown Natural Grain Ash, now available in the GLC for '18. Same finish as the black ash but in a lovely (IMO) natural brown stain.

Since it's new for '18 there was no way to see how it looked, so I poked around at a local dealer until I found an E class with the same configuration. Here's an example, courtesy of Mercedes Benz of Bedford:

Good info daggis. Thanks! How much extra was the grill? I probably want to go that route and I've seen others on here say how they purchased one off ebay/amazon and did it themselves, and others had the dealer do it directly. I think the amg grill looks a lottttt better.

pano: Definitely considering the pano more. Need to take a friend to the dealership to get their opinion on it since I'm on the fence.

trim: mtberman thanks, that is a good pic. Maybe I can find one at my dealership as well and see it in person. I think I saw a pic from rhillax (?) with the black seats with black ash trim as well, which help put it in perspective.

breezed over this part originally, but I just did some gorilla math and that looks like 56mpg. Wow. That's seriously impressive.

I've heard one issue with these plug in hybrids running in e-mode is that you suffer a lot with breaking. Apparently they feel mushy and add a lot to stopping distances. Is that anything you are experiencing or does it feel similar to a glc300?
