I went on the Port of Bremen website to see if I could find a "smoking gun", i.e. some film protection applied to the windshields that would be removed on arrival in the US. No go. I do know from experience that ocean shipping is pretty dirty, even in the hold of a roro ship. There is a slide in this link that shows MB's lashed to the deck of a ship.

while at the dealer today i reported the wipers and they said that was nothing new and they replaced the wipers to see if that helped. he said they did very good windshield cleaning and such. havent tried them yet as it didnt rain but as i have seen here im guessing it wont work
he did say stay way away from rain-x washer fluid and just use the plan blue stuff

It refers to a place where the wipers are for sale: http://www.scheibenwischer.com/bosch...0mm-a843s.html
Maybe worth a try to find them locally?

first rain since the dealer replaced the wiper. not surprisingly, very little difference. they did seem quieter, but the jerky motion was still there. when the car was new it was quiet at first vas well, so after a couple more rains i would suspect i can officially say the new wipers had no effect

Where to buy Oiginal Bob Ami
Some have mentioned the Original Bob Ami can be hard to find. Even saw where some have paid $5.00 or so on Amazon.
My local True Value store has it for $1.99!
I don't need it yet, but I thought I'd have some on hand. Now I'll just have to get up the nerve to actually use it on my windshield as others have described!

as luck would have it i drove my other vehicle that has bosch wipers that are about 15 months old on them. Smooth as silk!
in MB's defense i will give them significant credit for the amazing difference in headlights. i kept thinking i should check if the headlights were on, now that i am used to the pure white light, auto high beam and movement of the intelligent LED's

BTW, used Bon Ami on stubborn sprinkler water stains on outside of kitchen windows, worked like a charm! I continue to use it on my GLC for temp relief...

not sure the other MB you drove is relevant, unless it was a GLC...angle of attack of blade to glass, rake of the glass, length of wipers, etc could all be different. My wifes new C300 has no chuddering issues either on her car, but i take no solice in that since my GLC has had issue since day one.

How do you apply the Bon Ami on your windshield? I'm concerned of scratching the windshield, although I KNOW it's not supposed to.
Thanks!

I will take credit (or the blame) for the Bon Ami trick. I saw it on Motorweek sometime prior to 1995. GM actually repackaged it and gave it a part number. I have done the windshields on 3 cars. Also just used it on our 3 year old glass shower doors. They were really scummy at the bottom, but the BA plowed right through. Here's what I would suggest for a first timer. Take a microfiber cloth and wet the center. Hold it face up and sprinkle the BA on it. Take your finger and massage it into the wet spot, making a little paste. This will keep the powder from falling off when you turn the over onto the windshield. I would start at the top of the pass side. I use moderate pressure in a circular motion. You'll see a white film develop. Once you're comfortable using it, wet the cloth a little more and add some BA. I use a lot of it myself because I'm impatient and want it over quick. Keep going over it and over it. Hose it off and hopefully the water sheets and doesn't bead up. That's the clue if it worked. 2 things. Use ORIGINAL BON AMI in the red can. Also, wipe the blades with isopropyl alcohol. Car wash wax, diesel exhaust , and acid rain build up on the blades. Good luck.

Did the after service survey after they replaced the blades with worse effect. Got a call from MB. They claim they have no logged issue in their database. REALLY??
Anyway, I mentioned that the shuttering reduces the speed at which the blade cleans the windshield and in a downpour this problem reduces visibility. Its actually a life safety issue. All of a sudden the MB rep changed her tune.
