Could you photo the front windscreen one and post it please ? Do you have HUD ?
Cheers

Attachment 349990 This is the logo on my replacement windshield.
Attachment 349989 This is the logo on the windshield of the GLC in the dealer's showroom.
Maybe only windshields installed at the factory are marked with the "acoustic glass" logo, and replacement windshields lack the logo, but are nevertheless "acoustic glass" anyway?

Had mine replaced yesterday. It said "Acoustic glass" on both original
and the replacement screen. Here in Sweden it's a standalone option,
whether you order HUD or not. Since replacement screen is ordered
by the car's VIN, no need to worry - you get the same as you had.

Well, I got about 3 weeks with my new windshield.
This time, I specifically asked whether the quality
of modern windshields decreased significantly.
The boss at the glass workshop confirmed it.
It will be replaced for the second time in
next week, or the week after. *sigh*

After reading this thread I am very confused.
So for the US market, is acoustic window standard or not? If not, is it included in any packages? Is the TSB still valid for those who didn't get the acoustic window?
This is nuts because we liked the insulation of the GLC during test drive and it was a big selling point. I don't want to order the car without the acoustic window.

I don't know if it's standard. When my GLC43 came Feb last year, it had acoustic windshield, but not front side glass(es). Acoustic glass is not offered in rear, as far as I know. IIRC, I took tsb to dealer. Showed them, told them I wanted it. They ordered it and it took a few weeks to arrive, but they replaced non-acoustic with acoustic. They also weren't clear on why some were shipped with it and some weren't. Didn't get into causes why too much; they just replaced it. I don't remember much else about it. I also have a standing relationship with the dealer, so that may have helped.
Hope this helps some.

I had mine replaced also under the TSB. Just tell them you hear wind noise. Dealer replaced original non-acoustic glass with acoustic glass.

I just placed my order. So I hope I can get option 851 installed at the factory. I don't mind paying for it either. I know it will make a huge difference.

2017. Workorder states: Performed LI72.10-P-062500 steps 1-6. Replaced part numbers 253-725-83-00 and 253-725-84-00. These are the 2 new acoustic windows.

This is the Acoustic Glass....as you can read it clearly.
This is NOT a proof of acoustic glass. I have no idea what real acoustic glass shows tho.

And on Wednesday, my windshield was replaced for the THIRD time.
This time I had three big chips, & one crack (approx. ½ meter long).
Once more, the workshop owner confirmed that today's windshields
have way inferior quality than those, just a few years back in time.
They make'em thinner, to save on weight (and to save bucks)...

I took my 2018 GLC in for its one-year A service today and included on the work request something like this: "Please check front windows and seals due to excessive wind noise". The dealer advised me that they have ordered replacement glass and will contact me for an installation appointment after it arrives.

Thanks Lee, that was all I did too. The repair order says they were able to duplicate the noise, “applied tape to body seams,” and ordered acoustic glass.

BTW mtberman, you’re familiar with my thread where I complained about the “buffeting” noise I thought was coming from the rear of my car. Is it possible that’s the wind noise others complain about? It would be great if the acoustic glass got rid of that.

Vaboy, I think it’s worth a shot. When I spoke to the service adviser I said something like “can you please ask the tech to check for wind noise in the front? It sounds like it’s coming from around the mirrors.” They did the rest.
Here’s what the work order said: “Check for wind noise around side windows and outside mirrors at highway speeds.” Under that was the mechanic’s response, “Test drove for wind noise. Duplicated excessive wind noise. As per: LI72.10-P-062500 applied tape to body seams as indicated and test drove again. Noise still present. Ordered acoustic windows.”
Gi it it a try !

Great info, mtberman. Thanks
I’ll ask them to check it out when I take it in for my A service and annual state inspection in the next couple of weeks.

Also got mine installed. They gave me a C300 as loaner and that car definitely has serious wind turbulence issue by the mirrors. Nothing like the GLC, in fact the GLC before acoustic glass is much quieter than the C300. Now that we.have acoustic glass, it has made some improvement for wind noise.

Getting the typical runaround!

Sorry to hear it. If they don’t fix it on the second visit, it might be easier to contact MBUSA customer service instead of going back to them again.
I simply told the dealer there was wind noise and, according to the ticket, the tech replicated it on a test drive. From there they followed the bulletin and completed the work, and then followed up a week later to ask if it worked. In fact, today the SA sent a text saying I will be receiving a follow up survey tomorrow and he wanted to be sure I was completely satisfied with their work.
If you call MBUSA, keep it simple and tell them you took the car in for a concern and the dealer failed to fix it. That’s probably all you need to say to get results.

I know I get wordy on here, but the ticket just said “Check for wind noise around both front mirrors”. I never dreamed he’d “check for wind noise” without driving it. And there is no note at all on the ticket showing what they did, as there usually is. He just told me when he called that they “checked it out and didn’t find any excessive noise around any doors or openings.” I’ll escalate to MBUSA if they’re too lazy to troubleshoot it properly.
