Screeching Brakes on the GLC
my 2016 GLC 220d has done 26k kms and had 10 changes of brake pads, rotors and paste but still have this issue. For me I can reproduce the issue by driving for 20kms in traffic , taking out on a highway drive and then trying to reverse. Thankfully I had taken the service package so did not have to pay anything. The dealers have been very helpful , provided loaner cars and brake pad changes.
Dealer is mentioning that they will fix it permanently before July 18, but seeing this thread not sure what newer updates they have.
I'm not sure what else I can do. We should all go public about this. Unacceptable for a brand like Mercedes to have this problem.
I have replied to them as specified by my lawyer.
I am actually now in sindelfingen, germany where the main Mercedes Production is, Is there someone I can contact to vent out?

Good luck with the new fix.
Please post details when know.
Luckily our cars are ok.
Brakes, pads and discs only lasted 42,000 km before changing.
So in 40,000km in time I am likely to have big $ costs with new set tyres and new brakes again !!!
Saw this article sone time ago re altern brake pads and disc, I wonder if they work on a Benz, ??
Comments re ceramic pads, etc ??
Thanks

Well I got a new set of pads and discs for the glc and they do feel different to use. I am testing the car for 2000km before I confirm its resolved. I will update the status.
19Aug 2018 nope it's not fixed

They also sell expensive cars were you expect things work. Or at least BASIC things work good. And i'm screeching around parking lots, home, red lights like i have a 20 year old car without maintenance...
I asked my dealer to solve this problem...they can't. They can replace brake discs and rotors AT MY COST but they don't guarantee screeching would stop. Of course they can't, because they know it won't stop like we see in many cases here. They know nothing about different brake pads either. I contacted Mercedes in Germany (main help line) about this. Guess what? They are not responsible for this and i should contact my local dealer. REALLY? Local dealer can't do anything as long Mercedes owns the problem, makes a fix and delivers it to the dealers! But no, why should they right? It's best to keep quiet, people will screech around and buy another MB in couple years. Well i won't, that's for sure. I really like my GLC, but i don't like the attitude of a premium brand even for the simple things...and i HATE it every time i arrive somewhere, everyone knows it because brakes love to sing it away.

After 2 1/2 years, it's still the only thing we really don't like about the car (we got rid of the extended mobility tires, so we resolved that issue).

And they redesigned the calipers? That would be something I would have expected about 2 years ago. Do you happen to have a part number for the caliper(s)?
Are any kind of aftermarket brake components an option? I don't see any discussion on this.
Probably because 90% of people who have complained are learning to tolerate the noise and are fed up with listening to the dealer BS!
I do think it is a widespread issue and am noticing an increasing number of different brands having squeaky brakes.
I was coming out of Woodies hardware recently and noticed a man spraying WD40 onto the rear brakes of his new BMW 5 series. I stopped to talk to him and he said the noise was driving him mad.
I made sure that he wasn't driving behind me as we exited the car park! !!!
