Driver assistance and distronic are great

Being first time parents, I purchased the GLC with all the safety options. I only has the car for about a week and tested out the distronic along with driver assistance a few times. It worked wonderfully. The car actual steer by itself. I compare this to psuedo auto pilot. If you have your hands off more than 15 secs, the car will prompt you to grab the steering wheel.

These options work great in heavy traffics time too.

I'll never have another car that hasn't got Distronic or a derivative of it. Makes my commute so much less stressful in start stop traffic and is also great on the motorway. Very occasionally Distronic will do a warning beep where there's nothing around.

The lane keeping I don't trust. Works OK around 10-20mph but doesn't really work above those speeds and can be downright dangerous at higher speeds on the motorway when, sometimes it'll follow the lanes, and next it'll ignore a bend and let you run into the central reservation.

Driver Assistance package: I was a little worry about this not working either. I have tested out the system over 20x and I was simply amazed as how well it worked (on highway only).

These two options helped out in rush hours traffics.

I have had my car about 3 weeks now. I fully agree with Reddemon. The Distronic takes about 90% of the stress out of long rush hour drives on the freeways. This is not a self-driving car, however. Self-steering is good at keeping you from wandering slightly out of your lane, but it does not operate all the time and requires driver override at forks in the road, for example.

I have heard a few unexplained beep warnings that seem to come from bridge supports or ???
