I equally have noticed the 'crabbing' issue when my GLC is on full steering lock and raised it with my dealer in Edinburgh. At least they acknowledge there is an issue and seem to identify what the issue is- already mentioned in this forum. Dealers response below.
'Apologies for hearing your having some issues with the car. I was aware of the issue as I believe it caused by the division of the torque split between the front and rear axle. I will looking into the official stance of it and come back to you'
I'll provide an update when I receive any more information, but I'm certainly hoping that there will be a proper fix- i.e not just a suggestion that this is normal or a recommendation to fit winter tyres.

Hi
I have a 4 week old AMG GLC43 in Australia with 21' rims fitted with continental sport contact tires. Did not notice the issue at first, but yesterday noticed it for the first time only slightly.
What was more alarming was the tire wear which shows signs of graining already, the car has only done 900km.
The car is booked in next week for a windscreen polish as it also has the windscreen wiper judder problem that some owners are also experiencing. I shall be lodging the tire judder issue with MB at that time.
It's a great car but MB need to come up with a better solutions than fitting winter tires in Australia

Hi All
Interesting link for all GLC owners suffering from Crabbing & tire judder issues.
http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/mis...rabbing-issue/
I would like any other GLC owners who are suffering this issue in Australia to let me know because I can see this issue only getting worse for us as we drive these cars. Also after 900km of breaking in driving my tires are already showing signs of graining and as we all know these tires are not cheap.

Insist on full wheel alignment with print out.
You might be surprised to see it's out, ESP the front left wheel. Keep a printed copy for future ref and comparison. Our GLC settings were out, tyre scrubbing virtually eliminated, after another 10000k and rotation, you will see big improvement.
Looks like ours need align every 10k. Tyres at 23k currently.
Good luck

Cheers Teckno,
I will discuss this next week with the dealer. Going to do a bit more testing with tight turns as I've only just noticed it. It sounds like from the forums it only gets worst.
Spoils a perfect car, MB really need to sort there SH#T out on this one and come up with a Solution.
I'll let you know how I go.
What dealer did you use in Melbourne?

WMC021.......
We initially had slight " pull " to left, difficult to see if real or lane keeping function!
Noticed " feathering" to outside tread. Dealer took it, found nothing, did not look at tyre wear, if they did then the testing person needs to visit OPSM..
Took close up photos, printed on A4, bit hard to ignore.
We had to pay for front end, not that happy, given system was out, but at $280, it was cheaper than a $700 run flat.
At least I now have solid data and reference info for all settings. More than likely non MB tyre places like K-mart can only do part alignment without OEM tools, spacers, etc ?
City dealer however did look after us and to date have need very responsive yo some other non related issues, so A+ to them for looking after me on those matters.
Our juddering mostly occurred in car parks with painted floors, on tight roundabouts in the wet, at low speed and on full right lock and camber on road angled.
Good luck.

Vratenza,
May well be due to alignment, not 100 % sure.It may well help as it did with Teckno GLC.
I think as the cooler weather comes in over the next few months in the South and South Eastern states of Australia, I think we are going to get a lot more people noticing the issue.
If you have not yet lodge the issue with MB you should do.

I still think that the juddering is a deeper issue with design of the RHD steering geometry, or the clutch settings in the transfer case.
Certainly the alignment has helped and saved the tire from self destruction. That said tire rotation every 10k will help life of tyres.
Yes it will be interesting come winter, especially for those living on colder climates in Tassie, ACT, etc.
MB I think as a Esther of good will and customer stroking should offer free align, or go 50/50 in cost. $280 is a bit steep for this work, when lesser tire companies offer it foe between $80-100, admittedly probably not the full align, if specialist OEM tools are needed.
We pick up our second GLC in about 20 days, a Coupe, but not the more powerful 43 Series. It's another 250d.
It will be interesting comparing the two GLC , one with Pirelli run flats, the other with normal Michelin tires to see if characteristics replicate at the same roundabouts and car parking spaces. The Coupe has same size tires on front, but wider profile on rear, all 20".
Cheers

Hi All,
I have to agree totally with Teckno, but I think MB should be doing any alignment for free or better still have a recall to sort out the issues. Fitting winter tires and saying its a comfort issue is a load of SH#T and they know it.
A lot of people will be put off from buying an otherwise a great car no matter what model in the line up it is.
So come MB sort this out before your customers start thinking about BMW & Audi's because more and more people are finding out about this issue.
Maybe the next move is to get a OZ motor magazine involved......
I'll post how I get on with MB next week but I won't be falling for any of there excuses.
You don't pay over 110,000 dollars for a car to deal with this kind of fault especially from a brand like MB.

Cheers Teckno,
First time I've seen the article, but I have heard that is what they are telling people.
Well if it is only a comfort issue why are people's tire wear so high and the type of wear matches the crabbing effect (graining across the tire face).
Shame MB have not come up with a better response than that.
I guess they won't help with tire replacement cost.
Well Thanks Teckno for all your help. Lets see if they do come up with a better solution.

At this time of year temperatures on alternate days in the UK can be above or below 7 degrees, does that mean we have to change them every day. Hopefully when mine arrives on March 1st temperature will be over 7 degrees and they can't tell me to fit winter tyres if my car has the issue.

Indeed - never in my car ownership I've had to put winter tyres on my vehicle.
PS. For those owners who are affected, an action group website has been established where a lot of the information and links will get together. Not only that but also a comprehensive survey regarding the vehicle models, variants, wheels, tyres, steering etc is taking place with an aim that we can have some true statics. Only launched yesterday but data collection points are growing. https://www.mercedescrabbing.org

Yes, we've setup three user groups on there. One of them is for prospective owners, the other is for the press, and then of-course vehicle owners.
This page should describe it: https://www.mercedescrabbing.org/register
We are building up the content so the links to various forums, press reviews, Mercedes statements etc all all in one place.

I'd like to register as a prospective owner (albeit leased) but the link doesn't seem to be working. Is the page actually live now?
Thanks

Hi dejongj,
Like your work, I'll be joining tonight when I get home.
I'm with you all the way.
The more GLC owners get behind this the better.
This issue will destroy your tires. As noted before in this forum, My GLC43 has only done 1,100 km of breaking in driving and the tire graining is not good.
Not looking forward to the colder weather In Adelaide, as I'm sure the problem is going to get much worst.
