2016 GLC 300 4W - uneven tire wear at 11k???

Both fronts have significant uneven wear. Outside is 4/32 inside is 8/32?? In for all services, incl brake issues several times. Anyone else seeing this? Will dealer replace or assist?

No issues with tires. I have had issues with brake squeal in reverse. This was fixed by dealer with new front and rear pads. What size wheels and tires? What brand?

Alignment out of whackb if that is what caused it I don't think is covered. But given you had maintenance done there it seems reasonable they should check tire wear. I would try to get them to cover it for sure, but it won't be easy I'm guessing. Even if you get a 50-50 split better than nothing

Fact is (new car industry’s best kept secret) there is only front and rear Toe (directional) adjustment OEM! No Camber or Caster to actually adjust tire “contact angles”.

CAMBER Allows to resolve costly, premature edge tire wear, improving traction/understeer/oversteer

CASTER – Correctly resolves steering pull, increases steering response. With better turn in and high speed directional control. Along with anti dive/lift under brake and acceleration

Not having Camber or Caster is OK if maintained and driven at showroom height. But the reality of day to day commuting encountering high cambered roads or altered height through load carrying or lowering. Fitting wide profile tires. Curb knocks.... Camber and Caster - full adjustment capability is essential.

For the front (only) you can fit inaccurate “one offset position” fluted bolts – but they only offer a minimal 0.3 degrees (1/8”) change!

We saw the need therefore to re-instate from the early 90’s precise/full adjustment capability – TO FIX IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.

The K-MAC patented design front kit provides up to 3 times the adjustment range of the “one position” bolts and is PRECISE SINGLE WRENCH ADJUSTMENT – accurately on car (under load) direct on alignment rack.

Extra feature is that the front kit replaces the 4 highest wearing bushings and is 2 axis/mono ball (self aligning) without the OEM oil and air voids. Result is noticeably improved brake and steering response.

Rear kit also provides precise Camber adjustment for the first time (and extra Toe adjustment to compensate for the new Camber facility).

Another popular kit manufactured is uprated replacement bushings (12) for the ‘6’ multi link rear arms. Providing significant improvement to rear end stability. Less twitch/flex, improved traction especially when applying power to lane change/overtake.

GLC Class (X253)
Front Camber and Caster kit #502816L $545
Rear Camber (and extra Toe) #502226K $480
Rear Bushing kit (12) for the 6 multi link arms #502628K $480

Delivery one kit $30. Each additional kit $20. We accept PayPal, Visa or MasterCard.

The factory tires on our 2016 were shot in 19,000 miles. No tire warranty on the factory tires. Bought BFG DriveGuards from Americas tire with a 60,000 mile warranty and road hazard policy for approximately 140 per tire. It's ashame that MB supplies tires on their cars that the mfg. won't place a mileage warranty on.

2016 GLC 300 AWD
Angry #MeToo

I am fairly convinced that there is a known problem with the early GLC300 models. I bought a new 2016 for my wife and 13k miles front tires are completely worn. Rear tires are fine. I assumed there must be a bad alignment problem. The dealer just checked alignment and advised it was fine and sold me two new tires. It seems there is a design issue. Either the factor recommended alignment is incorrect OR there is an issue with the AWD OR there is a chassis issue?

I searched this problem and we are not alone. There a lot of complaints.

Would love to know if anyone has received acknowledgement.

All 4 of our tires were uniformally worn out at 19,000 miles. Even across the tread. Just bad tires in my op.

I took my ‘18 GLC 4Matic in a couple of weeks ago for the Pano and seatbelt recall fix and I asked the Svc Mgr about the premature tire wear on the OEM tires. He said overall he’s seen them worn at around 20,000 miles. OUCH! I have about 5,900 easy miles on mine, so it’ll be a while before I know how they hold up.

I have the same MY and tire/wheel set up as yours and experiencing the same. I even got all four wheels aligned with no luck so it may not be just the tires. I'm currently at 15K and rotated them two times. It's still fine, but I believe they will need to be replaced sometime in the near future.

Questions for forum members:

1. Do you know if it's limited to certain MY and/or wheel setup (i.e. 18/19/20 inches, RWD/4MATIC) I have 2016 18 inch w/ 4Matic.
2. Did this issue go away after replacing with a different brand tires?

So far we have 17,000 miles on the Bridgestone DriveGuards and they are looking really good. Nothing like where the OEM’s were at this mileage, replaced at 19,000.

Question Uneven Tire Wear - Scorpion All Season Run Flats

It appears that the 2016 GLC 300 has countless cases of uneven tire wear, esp the front 2. Has anyone had similar issues after replacing all 4 tires and having the car realigned? I called the dealership and they gave me no help - except to quote new Pirellis. I would prefer a more economical run flat...does anyone have any recommendations? My GLC only has 18K miles!

Our tires were worn out evenly at all 4 corners at 19,000 miles. Replaced with Bridgestone DriveGuards at $140 each with 60,000 mile warranty.. 17,000 on them at this point and wearing good.
