Suspension Noise
2016 GLC 300 4Matic.
Notice suspension noise when going over speed bump. Sounds like something is squeaking/creaking (definitely not rubber or plastic) it also sounds like something engages then disengages or vice versa. It is much louder than what you hear in the video. Dealer was able to duplicate the sound multiple times, but cannot pinpoint where it's coming from. Still at the dealer service center. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Yes, I hear that too on my 2016 GLC 4Matic....since the very beginning but not necessarily on every bump like that, but often enough.

Some drivers in Oz Land had rattles, very hard to id - seems the cause was the seat locking latches in the rear row. Opened them up and wound some electrical tape around latch at anchor point of first contact and noise went away. only occured when rear seats empty and no additional gravitational pressure.

I get the same type of thing on my GLC43. The dealer said it was not the suspension but the back seat rubbing metal, and he "ordered" a part to fix it, like 4 months ago. I don't think it is the seat, as when I jump in or out, I can hear creaking from the suspension. You wouldn't expect to hear these types of noises from cars that they charge so much for.

Not sure where you are located but is it a dry environment?
Had a similar noise from the suspension in my previous car which got worse in warm dry weather. Spraying silicone rubber lubricant on the rubber joints solved it.

From another forum: http://www.sgmerc.com/topic/24950-kn...e-rear-solved/
I had this exact same problem with my 43... It was driving me nuts trying to locate the noise.. Then i stumbled across the sgmerc forum, and bingo!
i folded the left back seat down and then returned it to its normal position, pressing firmly so it latched properly. The noise has gone away since then..

Same issue here - a creaking sound from the left rear upper wheel well area when I get out of the vehicle. So as a test I folded the rear seat down on that side and the sound is now gone.
Had assumed it was suspension-related and never would have thought the culprit was an interior part. The person on the sgmerc forum that figured this out is brilliant!

Good catch - old post, but I didn't see that until replying, but it sounded like something on the interior, not suspension. In the future, it could even be the wiring that forms the seats - they are attached via springs to the seat frame and stretch on such bumps.
There is one more source of phantom squeaks that has plagued just about every car I've had, in case someone searches this thread in the future... the glass on rubber gasket. It was especially bad on 3 series coupes where the door is frameless and on my old GLA the sunroof against the seals. The ONLY fix is to lubricate the rubber and that is a 2-3 month solution typically, especially if you wash your car a lot. There is a fantastic product out there called Gummi Phlege (not sure of spelling) that is designed for rubber trim that silences these. They sound like creaking or clicking depending on severity and you have a hard time catching them because they are short and quiet in aspect. Usually it happens in the winter when you have ice on the roof, crack it open, it melts inward, you close the window and now ice forms between glass and rubber in a super thin layer.
Cheers

Probably not worth a trip to the dealer but I'll have it checked out during the next service.

Creaking sound is back in the left rear wheel area, so in this case it's not the rear seat bracket. Doesn't occur when the car is cold so it seems like something is heating up and rubbing.
Probably not worth a trip to the dealer but I'll have it checked out during the next service.

I have a 2017 GLC-350e with air suspension and I'm currently experiencing a creaking noise sounding exactly like the one in your video from my front right wheel well. For a while it only appeared every now and then, but since yesterday it sounds like I'm driving around in a door with extremely squeaky hinges, and it's driving me nuts. I tried taking my wheel off and yanking at everything connected to the wheel hub, but I wasn't able to localize the source. I'm probably taking it to the dealer since I still have a year left on my five year warranty. I feel like such an expensive car shouldn't have these kinds of issues after only four years.
