New Mercedes user - questions
Hi,
Just had a new GLC220D AMG Premium delivered yesterday.
24 hours of frustration so far and I am the idiot who reads all the manuals.... :-)
Mercedes Me was a nightmare to setup. But that is another story.
I cannot find in the manuals.. or hours of going through menus.
1. How to change the Bass/Treble
2. How to get the satnav to use the address book from my iPhone which I can view on the car display screen
3. How to use the Voice Control system to make a phone call - ‘Call John Smith’ results in stony silence, it seems to only support satnav type words - but that would be pretty weird to have a voice control that can only do satnav...
4. How to keep frequent phone numbers in a favourites - ie people on my Favourites List on my iPhone would be a great start. Going through my contacts list would take longer than most of my journeys
I am sure there is a simple answer to all of these and really obvious, but after 24 hours of manual reading and sitting in the car I am stumped.
any pointers much appreciated
Mike

I have a GLC 300 and do not have Command but I believe these instructions (on page 30) are what you need: https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/Digital...13_B_small.pdf
With respect to your iPhone, just to get the obvious out of the way, have you actually paired it yet? You need to pair it for voice commands to work.

@scoho
thanks - yes the iPhone is paired.
i can scroll through my contacts on the phone.
I can go into the address of a contact but cannot get the satnav to go to that address.
I don’t have Comand either

Hi Busta999. I was confused, and I have exactly the same situation you do. I use CarPlay much of the time and the SD card navigation less. When using the latter, I understand that voice commands only work for navigation. I get around it by saying “hey Siri” to make voice calls, get text messages, etc., which do come through the speakers then. Not elegant, but it works when not plugged into CarPlay.

The manual can be confusing because it doesn't explain what option package/equipment the car needs for things that are described in the manual.

i read somewhere else here that COMAND can be very finicky with contacts, and if everything is not perfect then it wont transfer address. this seems to be happening to me, especially since some contacts have address and work properly

Just an fyi, when we got our 2016 glc, I couldn't get the garage door opener to work. Called the dealer and they sent a tech to the house. The problem was in the manuals directions. They were wrong. Just because the manual says something doesn't make it correct. Take your car to the dealer and tell them what you want programmed and let them deal with it.

Without Carplay, you can link the phone with Bluetooth. Then you can still make voice calls by pressing the "voice" button on the wheel, then you hear a tone and then you say 'call x x'.
I agree that some of the manual is written in a non-user friendly way. Not as bad as Chinese manuals, but not as good as it should be.

You also said: "Take your car to the dealer and tell them what you want programmed and let them deal with it." after saying the tech came to your house to programme the garage door opener. Owners reading your post could be confused into thinking it could be done at the dealers.
