buy 2018 now or wait for GLC 2019
Hello everyone,
i'm looking to replace my old car and I'm seriously considering the GLC300. The thing is though, I am hesitant to buy the 2018 now since the 2019 is coming out soon. I configured a well equipped 2018 for an MSRP of 57820.
Do you guys know if i can order a 2019 in this coming month (Aug-Sep 2018) or is it a long wait? When should i expect delivery if i order a 2019 soon. What kinda wiggle room do i have if i order a 2019?
Any help would be appreciated as this will be our first Benz

My 2019 is coming this Friday
The MBUSA site is way behind. I placed an order at the end of June using the website. My dealers STAR system was already using 2019 ordering guide. Apprarantly 2019 orders were already in progress as I was able changed one of the cars not yet locked for production for week 3 of July. Car already maxed it to Port of Baltimore and should make it to STL by this weekend.
A few changes. Base price went up by a couple hundred (but includes heated seats as base); other pkg went down like advanced lighting. In the end price remained pretty much the same. The brown interior (espresso) was gone - which was something I had wanted.
good luck with your 2019.

Thank you very much Philamg and Lay3r3 for replying. I didn't know that I could order a 2019 at this time. How much wiggle room below MSRP do you think i could have with dealers?

Standard GLC’s price point is competitive and is one of their better selling vehicles. I think there is a decent room for negotiation. Obviously custom orders may not have as much room vs taking one off of their existing lot. I’d call around and see who is willing to deal and just price shop.
if you search, people have gotten deals all the way to 18% which maybe a manufacturer sponsored deal. - 18 is way below invoice.
i am buying with insider MB friends and family so I may be an anomoly as well. (~12%)

When a 2019 is shipping(available) it will likely take 4-5mo to receive a special order that comes from Germany.
Next on pricing - your best way to negotiate a fair deal is to look at what the various GLC's are selling for in your area using online tool like Truecar
Using that tool you can see MSRP and what the car actually sold for via a bell curve. From that data you can calculate the %discount applied to MSRP, this way you can estimate a fair price using any MSRP you get from a specific configuration of the model. This is a fair market value at that specific time and a dealer should accept it.
But to note, a custom order is most profitable to a dealer most of the time, so there is some wiggle room to negotiate down from the fair price method i described above.
And there is of course, buying from a dealer not near you in another city or state, etc. The pricing method above is still valid.

now it has 3 zone hvac (do not recall if std or optional)
on my 2017 i opted for airbag suspension and cooling front seats (fans) over the 3rd safety package. i am very glad-happy to have these options.
cooling (fan'd) seats is kinda weird. hi & med speed pulls air down into the seat, but low speed blows up into the seat. not sure why they do that. i just think that if you are smelly/sweaty do you really want to pull that down into the seat?

It would be a shame for them to remove this option for std GLC300. I love it, and you can change modes.

If you can, wait and order the 2020. You'll get the facelift, LED lights and bigger screen. I got a 2019 but wish I waited for the 2020. Had to turn in my 2015 lease though.

I just read that 2019 is switching manufacturing to India. If this is truly for 2019 (2020 makes more sense) then use that info to your selection process. First year that factory is making this complex vehicle so errors are likely, factory tooling will take time so a delayed start is very likely and all the other impacts that come with switching factories.
According to this article, it is supposed to start production as early as next month, YMMV.

DONT BUY GLC!!
If you value your and your family's health, DO NOT BUY A GLC. If you are not aware, Google Mercedes hvac class action lawsuit. There is a defect in the hvac system that creates MOLD and when you run your ac, air filled with mold spores are being sprayed into the cabin. You and your family will be breathing this air in. Mercedes denies the problem and does nothing to help us. I have GLC 2018 and I've had this problem since my car was 2 months old. I regret buying it. No lemon law attorney will take my case and Mercedes dealers do NOTHING to help us. Run away, dont walk away from mercedes.

The lawsuit is on going, so if your car is listed. You'll have to wait like 2-3 years before they settle the case. It just started earlier this year. Big cases like this drags on.

Please visit this other forum. If you want to see that there are those of us that own GLCs that are in fact having defective hvac problems. You may use the control find function to specifically search for GLC complaints. For anyone that already preordered a 2019, please do a follow up after summer has started if you have the same issue I have work orders on attempted fixes by mbz, nothing works.

And I'm not saying these A/C mold-related issues shouldn't have been remedied after nearly 20 years now (they should have), but haven't been for one reason or another.
I've done this with my 2018 GLC300 for a year now and not even a hint of anything funky-smelling coming from the vents. Same with the wife's GLA250, so I suggest to always keep the climate control set to "Auto".
