1300 miles engine light on

Hi guys
my 2019 GLC 300 after 1300 miles the engine light just came on, I called my dealer , they said to open and close the gas cup and drive for another 50 miles and should shut of, this seems little strange to me but they may be right.
any opinions?

That's good advice. The most common cause of a check engine light is a fuel filler cap that's not installed correctly.

MY2019 has remote diagnostics, you can just hit the button for a precise answer.

Finally got the car back , they find a charcoal canisters for the evaporative emission system faulty, and they replaced it.

Please understand when you fill the tank - when the pump stops - you stop - no "topping off"

i have heard this from many vehicles. what can you damage by topping off?
