Considering a 2018 GLC300
I've been on the lookout for a used GLC300 SUV for my wife to drive. I concentrated on 2017 or 2018 with reasonable mileage. I found two locally both silver with beige interior (I hate the black). One has 5.5K miles for $39,900 and the other has 27.5 miles for $33,000. They look brand new and run well. Both are still under warranty so that should not be a problem. The 27.5K is being sold by an Infinity dealer whereas, the 5.5K is a Mercedes dealer and is certified. Certified and lower mileage is nice but is it worth an additional $7,000 miles? My thought is to buy an extended warranty as the original warranty comes close to ending.
Any thoughts? I'd appreciate any advice since this is our first Mercedes.

It’s it’s in your budget I would go for the lower mileage vehicle.

1 First Factor - our planned mileage/usage - for your future value you can't roll-back the mileage you bought at - the question the future mileage/vlaue that you will own as you drive/use over your planned ownership
2. 2nd Factor - anticipated service over your planned ownership - the maintenance schedule can be found on mbusa.com under owner's section. The "cost" for next 3yrs service recommended service at 40K-50K-60K will be quite higher than recommended 3yr service for the 5K rig 10K-20K-30K for example (and if the MB dealer may have already done the 10K - if they have your next next 3 services will be at 15K(20Kservice)-25K(30Kservice)-35K(which will be 40K service). You need to be aware of Spark Plug Change/when and Transmission Service/when - as major expense.
The one from MB has been inspected and/or serviced - do you really think a 37K mile 2018 has been serviced per MB recommendation for 10K/20K/30K (this 18 is called a "Road Runner")
3. 3rd Factor - warranty - the Mercedes New Car Warranty is 4yrs/50K miles from original in-service date (whichever comes 1st) - then Mercedes CPO add's a additional 1Yr Unlimited Mileage Warranty that seamlessly when the New Car Warranty ends. That Mercedes CPO Warranty can be extended up to a additional 2yrs - adding up to 2 additional years of added Unlimited Mileage Warranty - for added cost at time of purchase or up to last day of the original 1Yr CPO warranty.
4. 4th Factor - if the one at your MB dealer is a "retired service loaner - called CVP) then it "may" qualify for Special Mercedes Financial Financing as low as 1.99% out to 72 - or may qualify for Mercedes 1st Class Lease - where the Infinity one you know does not have any possible special.
That covers the 4 factors you might consider... you have "risk factors" on the 37K mile GLC - and yes you do have "added value" on the 5K one..

Thank you for your excellent analysis. It give me something to think about. BTW, the mileage on one of the cars is 27.5K not 37 K as you indicated. In any case it give me pause to consider the pros & cons of each car.
Thanks again!!

Good luck... please note this "factor" expires end of February - even if you are cash-ready 1.99 out to 72 is cheap money
