Order New Key Fob

I've recently lost one of the twokey fobs for my 2017 GLC300, and I would like to ask (1) if anyone know how much to order another replacement as backup? (Key, programming fee, and etc.). Also, (2) will reprogramming of the new key automatically disable the lost key from remotely accessing the car door and etc? Finally, (3) is there any other alternative other than ordering from the dealership to get an extra backup key (i.e. will some special locksmith able to cut the key using my current one and program it? and I've also see listings on eBay for these keys, are those trustworthy?) Thanks.

Call your dealer (s) for a quote..

I did. Dealer's quote was ridiculous, and I felt they trying to rip me off. $350 for the key, and they wanna charge twice $179 x 2 for programing the new key, and disabling the lost key, so total would be $700+ according to them. With my research, when the dealer programming the new key, they pretty much doing the process of erase everything and reprogramming the new key and the other key to the new program codes, which then should automatically disable the old lost key since the car respond to the new programmed code; but the dealership wanna charge $179 for programming the new key, and another $179 for disable the old key (basically charging twice for one task). It's ridiculous to charge $700+ for a key fob, don't u think?!

That is pretty standard fee. The fee for just getting an additional key is 250-300 dollars. If you lost a key and you are worried about someone gaining access to your car, they need to reprogram your car as well as your current key as well get you a new key. That is why the charge is so high.

Not sure it is the same for a Mercedes but the local locksmith made a key/fob for our truck and programed it for $125. Did not worry about the lost key.
You might check with a locksmith.

But the point is when they r programming the new key, the old key automatically no longer usable because the code in the car has just been erased and reset to new key, and the fact the dealer wanna charger another programming fee and calling it "disabling the lost key" is ridiculous and dishonest.

Thanks Chuck for your shared info.

I did this a few months ago for a 2017 GLE350. It was under $300 total if I recall. This included the fob, programming of the new fob, and deactivation of the missing fob.

Thanks for the shared info. May I ask if your key Laos the keyless entry type of key fob?

It is a Keyless Go fob.
