I have a GLC 2020 and did not get the navigation package. Does anyone know if there’s any way to add navigation post-purchase? I really don’t like Car-Play (it displays on only half the screen and the cable is annoying).
I cannot even find an SD slot to experiment with an MB map from ebay and I can’t find anything online... any thoughts??
I negotiated adding the Navigation to my 2020 GLC on purchase that came with CarPlay. It took a while for them to figure out how to add it but they finally did and I have both now. I believe they would have charged $750 for the nav.
On my 2018 you needed to have option code 355 pre-installed to use the SD card navigation. The card slot is in the middle console. Others can correct me, but probably the same applies for the 2020 model.
As to CarPlay, the wired part is a bummer. But, as to viewing the screen, you can toggle between the dashboard view and full screen view, so you can have navigation take up the full screen. It is not intuitive, but if I remember just clicking on the map when the screen is in dashboard mode will make it full screen.

Silly question, but the car has USB-C, can you just use an SD card reader, or copy the files from the SD to a USB thumb drive? (I realise MBUX navigation may not be compatible with the older version but it seems worth a go?)

Have you managed to get this done, or has anyone figured out how to get a dealership to enable the navigation “subscription” here in the US? I believe this is an item in the Mercedes Me Store in the UK but we don’t have the store here yet in the US. Thanks for the info!
i concur - you need the system itself to have the software to read/use maps on an external SD card. These systems (MBUX) were not designed to have secondary types of navigation from an SD card, so connecting that even with adapter wouldn’t do anything as far as I know.

From my glc x253 my19, there was an option that said sd card nav prewiring. Do you have that option or has it been changed in the refresh?

Instead the MBUX system was designed to be modular so that features could simply be enabled and licensed to provide additional capabilities, providing the hardware exists. I may be wrong, but that’s what I’ve found thus far.

Best solution is to use Apple Car Play or Android and you have access to Apple Maps / Google Maps or Waze. Anyone will give you excellent navigation. Plus you don’t need any other add ones. With Siri you can say a destination and it will load the address . Think it works with Android too.

MBUX has this really silly problem and it's not becasue of any limitations or anything, but apple carplay/android auto uses only 2/3 of he screen in the middle. OP mentioned this already and does not like it.

The "flip" side is this - since MBUX comes standard with Free Apple CarPlay & Free Android Auto - Multimedia ADDS a additional onboard Nav system.
Frankly - I have seen some comments about there are those who would "prefer" a different/full CP/AU layout - from my side I use Voice Directions - so really for me the map-on-the-screen is just a reassurance CP/AU is working.
Last year's command system also had to be wired, however the system would use the whole 7 inches to display apple carplay. MBUX uses the middle 2/3s, which is big enough, consider the size of that screen, but has a really distracting black bit around. Apparently MB programmed it that way...

Can you provide me the dealer that was able to figure out. My salesperson didnt realize that my old GLC had navigation when he ordered the new one without it. We really need navigation and he is trying to figure out.
