Installation of SIM card slot?

Mine is a 2020 GLC 300. There is no option to connect the vehicle to the internet in my region, and there is no sim card slot in the car. I was thinking of retrofitting this device if it's possible. As far as I can see, it involves these steps:
  1. Buying and fixing the actual part inside the center storage box (should be easy enough)
  2. Updating the software to make use of the installed part, such as for Mercedes Me, and for connecting "Hey Mercedes" to the internet.
Is there a way to do this? Will it void my warranty?

Rather than try to get Mercedes Me to work, I think you'd be better served with Android Auto and/or Apple CarPlay if they are available in your region. Google and Apple have far better applications available.

I don't care that much for the Me app, but I would really like to have the connected MBUX voice system and updated maps.

Because a) this feature is not available in any Mercedes car in my region and b) I can see the empty space in the center console, where the SIM card module would be present.

Well it seems that either a) I'm confused or b) you're confused...... there's always the possibility that we are both confused I suppose! !
Are you referring to slot for SIM card or SD card?

IIRC the SIM slot is in the passenger footwell. Either way, the things you want are a mixture of in-car equipment and online services. If they really aren't available in your country then I can't imagine you can make them work even if you somehow got all the equipment installed and the software enabled.

I am confused as well. My understanding is that SIM cards are for cell phones, SD cards are memory and app cards.

with that being said, my car does not have that SD slot, would navigation work if I bought SD adapter?

Something like this

This is the SIM tech used link. The module is called Hermes - on GLC 300 I believe located in the trunk, left side.

Ok so i have a GLC300 (2019). Car has connection, Mercedes ME is connected and SYNCED. I pulls weather info, traffic updates etc so car is running a 4G connection. However this is locked so you can't share the data or access internet (likely a reserved data network for Mercedes) It's also running a Vodafone Connection so the idea here is if you can find the SIM Card (unless it's an ESIM) then i wanted to replace it with another Vodafone SIM that is DATA & VOICE enabled to see if that gets around the issue.

Does anyone know the exact location of the SIM card is in the car?

Functions of the communication module:

On vehicles with a built-in communication module,
the Internet connection is established via an
integrated SIM card.

To use Internet access via the communication
module the following conditions must be met:

Mercedes me connect is active and ready for
operation.

Mercedes me connect is activated for Internet
access.

In some countries: data volume via Mercedes
me connect is available.

In some countries: if the data volume limit is
reached, the availability of Mercedes me connect
services is limited. The data volume must
be purchased via Mercedes me connect.

Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center
to find out whether it is possible to purchase
data volume in your country.
