Changing Radio Stations

I have all my preset stations saved and am able to use the thumb pad on the steering wheel to swipe and push to change stations. My question though is this: is there a way to scroll through all preset stations with a one button push? It seems there should be a more simple way than having to swipe right and pressing the thumb button on the steering wheel every time you want to move to your next preset.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question but on my 2018 GLC 300, I scroll through the presets with the up/down arrows on my steering wheel. My wife will use the dial or touch pad located on the center console when she's in the car with me to change the stations.

Are you looking for a different way to do this?

The way you explained is the way I would like to be able to scroll through stations, but I don't see that that's possible on my '20. The way it is now, I have to use the thumb pad on my steering wheel (or touch screen, or pad on center console) to swipe right and then press down to move to a new station.

Oh ok. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the 2020 steering wheel controls so I wouldn't be able to help you.

I hope you find a good solution.

Take care.

My 2020 has the digital dash, so I don't know if the center of the regular dash's instrument cluster works the same way, but my center cluster is controlled with the left steering wheel touch pad. If I change the center of the cluster to display Audio, then I can scroll through all of the stations (not pre-sets), but if I back out one level, my choices are the various radio bands (AM/FM/SXM), and then presets. So if I set it to presets, I can simply use the left touch pad to scroll up/down my preset stations.

Here's the downside -- I don't think the preset option sticks after the engine is turned off (not sure). But for longer rides where you're going to do a lot of channel surfing, it's not as big of a deal to set it on the drive. Also, if you don't have all 12 presets assigned, I think it starts just seeking up a station from the last preset (e.g., I have 9 preset stations), but if I scroll past #9, it just starts moving up a channel/frequency, rather than going back to preset #1...

Also, you can use the voice controls, which are actually pretty accurate on this car. See my post here about using the voice control: https://mbworld.org/forums/glc-class...-question.html

My19s have presets, it is funny that they changed it for mbux. I like hard buttons on my cars. I find mbux a bit irritating because of that. Which was why I bought a 19 when 20s were in stock. Sorry I couldn't help you too much. Mb must have set it up differently.

I have the digital dash, too. I keep my stations on the center console screen and not the dash cluster. The only way I have seen to cycle through preset stations from the steering wheel is to use the thumb pad to swipe right and then press down to select. I wish there was a way to just push a "next station" button and cycle through with a simple press instead of swiping and pressing. Half the time my thump isn't recognized on the swipe or it switches back up to the top and instead of going to next preset, it goes to the next chronological station number. There's got to be an easier way!

When you don't know, look it up on Google. Surely there are better answers there than asking a bunch of noobs.

I've done a lot of research on both the internet and my manual, and I can't find anything on it. I don't think it's possible to do what I want to do. Every other car I've had that has had steering wheel access to control the stereo has had this functionality. Maybe It's just not possible here. There aren't any arrows for any of the buttons, so I may just be out of luck.

In my '15 C300 i use the scroll wheel down by the center console. But for my wife's '20 GLC300 with MBUX i cannot find a way yet.

If you click down on the track pad, at the top where the arrows are, your radio preset screen will highlight. Now you can either use the steering wheel thumb pad or the track pad to change stations without pressing down. Unfortunately this times out if you don't keep swiping.

Ah, I understand what you're asking now --> you were asking about dedicated channel/preset <up>/<down> buttons on the multi-function steering wheel. That's not an option on this system, as we have the dual touchpads, that control all sorts of stuff in the instrument cluster and MBUX screen..

Obviously a personal choice, but i found it easiest to have the audio in the center of the instrument cluster, and the navigation at the right of the cluster (again this is with the digital dash). These are the two things I use the most - so no matter what is on the main MBUX screen (which is often one of these), these two things are ALWAYS front and center in the cluster. With the audio in the center of the cluster, a press of the touchpad brings up a menu that has the bands, and if you scroll to the bottom, there is a PRESETS option. This allows swiping up/down to scroll through the presets --> this is as close as I could get to doing what you want. Unfortunately, that reverts back after the vehicle is turned off to scrolling through all stations, so each time I start to channel surf, I press the left touchpad and select PRESETS and away I go...

Gotta say, this is one of my biggest frustrations with MBUX. Why give us presets and then make it three clicks to change the station? Nobody in the world wants a single click to go up to the next station on the dial - that's how you mistakenly end up listening to country music!

I wonder whether Mercedes will offer us this in a future over-the-air update. Is there any way to give them this feedback? I've been looking online and so far, nada.

I hear you. Unfortunately, I haven't found a fix for this and continue to use the thumb pad to scroll to the right and press down for next station. Not sure why there was never a 1 click option to move to next pre set. This is the first car I've ever had or seen that has steering wheel controls that doesn't allow for this simple option.

Has anyone found another way to scroll through your presets? I do the click on the arrows on the main touchpad and then can swipe through, but it does timeout after a few seconds and disappears. Kind of a pain

Scroll through presets - why?

There may be something I'm missing here in this thread, and maybe not all M-Bs have the option setup that mine have had, but... here goes. I just click the Linguatronic button on the steering wheel and tell it "Preset zero" or whichever preset I'm looking for. The change is instant. There's therefore no need to scroll through the presets - if I'm in a non-home area, I'm more interested in finding out what local radio stations there are, and if I'm in my home area, I know what I want to listen to.

I saw this thread when I was frustrated with switching through presets when I got my car a couple of months ago (GLS 540). I found a helpful trick: On the track pad use a two finger swipe up to bring up the radio presets, then one finger to swipe left or right super quickly. Saves a couple of steps.
