Size of front/rear license bracket screws?

My title paperwork gets here in a couple days. I'd like to pay my license and registration fees, plus sales taxes - so I can get my permanent license plates.

I like using Weathertech Clear Cover/Clear Frame to house the plates inside.

I think the size is M6 x 1.0 or M5 x 0.8 - but using license plate covers thinking I need them in 14-16mm long for secure fit.

If anyone knows please post. Called dealership & they were clueless about the size. Thanks.

Went with these:

Prime Avenue Stainless Steel

RSD:

Used 4 RSD extended license plate screws on rear plate, to secure WeatherTech Clear Cover/Clear Frame:

Used 4 screws provided by MB dealership on front bumper - others I sourced were wider, no need for a bigger hole in bumper:

Really sucks when you have to compromise the looks of the front with a license plate.

In total agreement. No choice it is the law here.

I appreciated your post. One of my little rituals whenever I get a new car is to get a nice set of tag frames for it. I think it's a nice finishing touch for the vehicle. Invariably I have to deal with the same thing you did, which is the mismatched or too-short screws that come with the vehicle. Like you said I think the ones on the front were fine and I was able to reuse them, but the ones on the back were really short and looked like they would barely hold the tag in place....much less the tag and a decent tag frame. I ended up getting the same extended-length ones for the back that you did and thankfully they worked well.

Thanks - glad it helped someone. Like you, I always install clear frames & covers, usually WeatherTech to provide protection to the license plates, and provide an understated accent. The length of the extended rear plate screws by RSD is 14mm.
