2022 GLC 300 4 MATIC
Adaptive control damping suspension

I bought a 2022 GLC 300 4matic used as a CPO. I do have the original build sheet with options. It has the $300 option off road package (430).

I'm a little confused on what Mercedes offers on this model as far as suspension. Not sure if the terminology is correct, but what is the control damping suspension and is this an option or a standard feature. I assume it's not the air suspension option and may be a part of the shock absorber.

Can someone here fill me in on my questions?

I think you are referring to the selective damping suspension. That's the only suspension that was available on the non-AMG GLC in the USA as far as I know. The description from MB is below, but basically the dampers have two stages. A firm stage and a soft stage and it goes between them based on the amount of body motions. The driver has no control over it, though. With the air suspension and other adaptive suspensions, the driver can choose between Comfort, Sport and Sport+ for the suspension and the damping continuously adapts, but with the selective damping system there's no such choice and there are only two damper settings. It firms up on its own if you start to throw the car into corners and then relaxes the damping again if you just drive along.

I see in the photo it shows as standard. Did you get this from a specific model year or does this apply to all X253 chassis, including 2022?

FYI, on my build sheet I just noticed CODE 482, off road comfort suspension. Don't know if this is the code for the selective damping suspension.

It's not an option, just listed under standard accessories.

I've got it from the current model year, but it's been the same type of suspension for the previous models. The off-road suspension option just raises the ride height. Basically uses taller springs and may use softer anti roll bars for better independent wheel travel when off-roading.

Thanks for your help. If the ride height is taller, it can't be much from what I see on my vehicle.

The features are listed on mbusa.com. Just scroll down and View All Performance Features, then click on them for a description. You can also find the order guides for your model year in the thread linked below.

https://www.mbusa.com/en/vehicles/mo...c/suv/glc300w4

EDIT: Sorry these are for the AMG models. If you search you can probably find the non-AMG model order guides.

Hello sorry for talking out of context, but i just wanna ask about my CLA 45s which has M139, 4-cyl engine with 30.5 psi factory boost (416 hp). My question are is it safe to tune it over 500+ horsepower and do you guys have specific recommendation for tuning CLA 45s? because here im really afraid to tune the very high 30.5 psi factory boost and my lack of knowledge in tuning this car.

Stock is already pushing the motor a lot, I would not tune it further but you always could.
