AMG Driving Academy
Just completed a day with the AMG Driving Academy at Laguna Seca, which was the inaugural day of the year for their driving event. It was Mercedes present for buying an AMG. There was the typical slalom event, collision avoidance and skid pad, but most importantly I was quite impressed with the organization and the stable of AMGs we were able to drive on the track. There were 6 models that we were able to get 4 to 6 laps in of each, playing follow the leader with an instructor, all pro racers. The stable of AMGs we drove on the track were the CLA 43, C43 and 63, E 63, CLS 63, SL 63 and my favorite on the track, the GT S coupe.
From the rigid tent they erected for the event, to the excellent catered bkft and lunch, they put on a great show. The luxury porta potties even had Tylenol and Tums on the shelf for those having problems with the intensity of the day.
I also came to realize that the advanced collision avoidance systems built into the cars that came into play on the track allow the normal everyday driving to be a safer experience.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Disappointed that we don't get this in the UK, when you buy a new or used land rover you get a 1/2 day off road course at one of their centres free.

The E 63 was not the new edition. Here is a pic. There are a lot of photos of the
day that have been posted on: amgacademy.com
They also post a video of your laps in the GT S, really well done showing spedo,
revs, Gs, wheel position and view of driver. Check it out.

i agree that it was a good event, but our team instructors were way to disorganized to the point of being aggravating.
there is a lot of room for improvement
- the slalom and skid pad drives were too far Apart and in the skidpad by the time you get a feeling of the car you have to exit. 2 laps including exit is crazy short. Proof is that our instructor showed us by doing 8-9! 4 is IMHO the very least
- the skidpad was only left hand
- the c43 is pretty pathetic
- extremly general feedback
- way too much time waiting waiting too.
