Pricing Questions

I got $2000 off a $68,700 MSRP. I drove it, said I wanted it and asked for a better price. He said $2k off and I said ok. Could I have gone through the whole cumbersome process of walking out, asking for the sales manager, yada yada and gotten more off, perhaps. I'm happy. Great car.

I went with black ash too. Originally I wanted saddle brown but was told I could not get it because MB was out of stock of that color so I ordered espresso brown. My build starts in June and I still am trying to determine if that's true or can make changes. I have my PO and have called MB customer service and have gotten no where - wish there was some one other than the dealer I could talk to. I don't mind the espresso brown color but I am so concerned that when I build it on MB's website the steering wheel is round and brown instead of black and square at bottom unless you get heated - cooled seats and HUD which I am getting. That's the key on the web site build to make the steering wheel go from brown to black but I'm still really concerned over which steering wheel will be in the car. I just wish I could get saddle brown.

There was some proprietary information, therefore I removed my post.

I went out of state and visited a Mercedes dealership where I used to live and have a document from the Mercedes dealership stating that they will sell me a 2018 GLC43 for $1000 over dealer invoice & they will show me the invoice. This seems like a really good deal to me, however I don't know if they can play games with the invoice. I would appreciate someone opinion on this offer. Based on everything I have read this seems too good to be true, however the owner & sales manager indicated they gave me a crazy offer & were willing to stand behind it. They have not ordered the car yet, because I want Apple Carplay which won't be offered until the September build.
Note: When you questioned whether or not they can manipulate the invoice, to my understanding, they cannot. While I do not believe they can tamper with the numbers, sale price minus invoice does not reflect the dealership's total profit. They get holdback money from MB when they sell the car, which increases the profit they already made by selling you the car. While they do get holdback money, dealerships don't like cutting into it on the sale. Unless you are willing to buy a 2017, I doubt you can get any better than $500 over invoice. Also, don't let the dealership screw you on dealer fees.

This is why it is good to negotiate an "out-the-door" price. I know the fees are tough to negotiate out after the fact if you do go with X over invoice or X under MSRP. I mean, the walkout tactic is still a strong one, but the car is sitting there starring at you after you waited for so long and it's "exactly" what you wanted. Add to that that these sell quick and then it's what's another $300-500.

BOOSTED, like you... I was able to negotiate 6% off the new build and asked for them to throw in some additional accessories (about $400 worth, because, let's be honest, I love the coat hanger that attaches to the head rest among other things). Since you shared your spec, I've attached mine. Going to be a long couple of months looking at this sheet until the car is actually delivered.

Was it a 2017 or 2018. I was told that 7% off MSRP was basically the dealers cost for a 2018? Did you have a trade? I was dealing in cash at a dealer nearby.

It's not uncommon for lessees to discover that they got a great discount on MSRP but paid a higher MF than they should have. Residuals are set by the manufacturer's financing arm but MF can be gamed by some less scrupulous dealers. Not saying this happened but it is something to watch for if leasing.

MSRP: $67,525
Invoice: $62,866
7% off: 67,525 x 0.93 = 62,798.25

Wow, how are you guys getting these discounts. My father is looking to get into either a GLC43 or Macan. He went into the MB dealer last week, they had one GLC43 on the lot and wanted $10k above MSRP for it. They said it was exclusive that's why the mark up.
This is in the San Francisco East Bay area, where there are many MB dealers within an hour drive or so.

It is my understanding that the each dealer is only allocated a given number of AMG's in a given year. As a result, there may be a higher demand for AMG's in an affluent area, therefore the dealers may be at their limit & want to capitalize on the situation. I'm actually going 750 miles from where I live to get a decent deal. That dealer is small and is limited to 5 AMG's/year, however the population in the given area is much smaller than your area.

Have the options he wants and start the call/internet route for dealers outside the area, as others have suggested.
Keep in mind 2017s are done being built, so whatever is out there is it. There still may be some in transit to dealers, so check autotrader or another car site weekly. 2018s start production next month for probably August delivery, but order bank is open if he wants to go this route and order one. This gives the dealers a little more strength at this time, so you'll probably have to be a little more patient on a "deal".
Good luck!
