GLC43 Tuned!
Hey guys, finally got around to tuning my GLC43, with some pretty solid results! The car is a '17 model with 21" wheels and I was surprised to see that it made 213.4kw (286hp) at the wheels stock. Honestly, I was expecting around 190awkw (255hp). It is four wheel drive and on big 21" wheels and tyres hence I factored in about 25-30% drivetrain loss. All stock runs were consistently 211-214kw indicating that drivetrain loss is a decent 20% OR the car was slightly underrated.
My impressions of the standard GLC43 was that it was lacking some oomph between 3000-5000rpm, The power delivery was smooth and linear, but it felt a little flat and was crying out for a stronger mid range.
Oh my did the tune deliver! The car feels a lot more alive, now with a sense of urgency through the mid range power delivery. It actually pushes you back into the seat a little now while stock was a bit ho-hum. The car now makes 257.9kw (346hp) at the wheels, meaning a gain of almost 45kw at all four wheels! Assuming the car has 21% drivetrain loss from above, this would be approximately 326.5kw (438hp) at the motor.
Unforunately the dyno measures in 'dyno-newtons' rather than straight newton-metres so I can't provide exact data on the Nm torque numbers. However, the peak torque for the stock run was 5400N (dynonewtons) and peak tuned torque was around 6600N (dynonewtons). On average, there was about a 15-20% torque increase across the range. Working off the stock figure of 520Nm, this would indicated a tuned torque level of around 620Nm somewhere...
Finally.. on to the graph!
p.s. I have run many previous cars on this dyno and am confident with the numbers it reads. Regardless of the absolute numbers, the main thing to consider is the gain between stock and tuned on the same dyno.

Are you planning on getting down-pipes any time soon?

Assume you are in US, figures for standard BHP in UK is 367 or 273HP, assume same in US . 286HP is good but not surprising.

I'm in Australia, hence working off kw. Stock car here is 270kw at the motor. As I said, I was expected less power at the wheels so 213kw is pretty decent. Two C43s were also done on the same day and both made 203kw at the wheels... go figure,,

Yeah custom flash, but I'm in Australia so I don't really know who the vendors are on the forum as there isn't really anyone down here. No plans for downpipes.. yet

I'm based in Australia as well, but am in Melbourne instead of Sydney.
Was it just a simple Racechip (or similar) tune, or something else?
Those numbers look pretty close to the RaceChip tune for AMG43 engines (434hp and 620Nm).

Hey, this was an ECU flash. Personally, I have never used plug in tunes before but I know people who love them and the convenience they provide.

I have been looking at the Dinan Elite but there have been some concerns. How have your results been having this on your SUV for 4 months. Any problems?

Is that an ECU tune? If somebody were local (Atlanta) I would consider that but I don’t want to risk downtime and/or warranty issues- I have a 100K warranty and though I don’t expect issues with powertrain, I don’t want my dealer using that as an excuse for other issues that may crop up that are likely unrelated...

If somebody were local (Atlanta) I would consider that but I don’t want to risk downtime and/or warranty issues- I have a 100K warranty and though I don’t expect issues with powertrain, I don’t want my dealer using that as an excuse for other issues that may crop up that are likely unrelated...
ECU send in is essential for all 43AMG vehicles.

Any warranty. I am concerned about throwing a code etc. when reinstalled.

We warranty the ECU only for 12 months from date of purchase. Our tune does not throw any codes. If your car has fault codes or has been tuned before we will need to know this prior to tuning. We usually suggest addressing any know issues before we can tune the ECU.

Also, would I be able to return the car to stock and back to tuned as I please?
