Winter tyres

Just moved in to the boston area and I heard that the winter is not friendly here. Currently my car have the 20 inch wheels with all season tyres. Do I need to change my tyres to winters or I'll be good on my all seasons?
If I need to change to winters do you guys have any recommendation on which rubber is good? I dont fancy a smaller wheel I think I'm just gonna stick with my 20 inch. Thanks guys!!

I've lived in the greater Boston area for nearly 10 years now and I have never used winter tires. Normally the roads are ploughed well enough and regularly enough that you shouldn't need to upgrade to winter tires, and I've been more than fine on all-seasons thus far. That said, if you're planning any trips up north for ski trips or if you want to be cautious, then winter tires would be a good choice.

I live in Wyoming where winter tires for me have always been a must have. Last February, I bought a GLC43 equipped with the Goodyear Eagle Sport All Season Run Flats. I absolutely intended to buy winter tires. But, I never did. I was truly blown away by how well the car performed in winter with the all seasons, better than the outgoing GL with Blizzaks. Most importantly, the tread compound did a great job of remaining pliable during the coldest of days. Tread depth was adequate. 15,000 miles later the tread depth is down to 8/32 and I am wondering if it will perform as well this year. First snows have been fine but it really hasn't gotten cold or deep yet. Had some icy days that were just fine. I grew up in Boston and if your car is new with the all seasons I suspect you'll be just fine, may be even impressed.
