21" Tire/Wheel Thoughts
My 2017 GLC43 with 21" wheels and Continental ContiSport Contact Z rated tires experienced crabbing with LESS than full wheel lock and ALWAYS when my tires are cold at ANY outside temperature. I thought I wanted the 21" wheels but nowhere in my hours spent "Building" on MBUSA do I recall any mention of "Summer Only" tires as the only option with 21" wheels. The owner's manual says DO NOT DRIVE summer tires under 45 degrees. I confirmed the fact with Continental. Perelli Scorpion Verde All-Season are available 1 size larger for the front and 1 size smaller for the rear. The rear would fit but the front 265/40 are three tenths inch taller. That possibly won't work; not sure yet. Also I find conflicting info as to whether that tire requires a minimum wheel width of 8.5" or 9". I'm awaiting a reply from the one national tire chain that's web site says the front tire can be mounted on 8.5" to 10.5" wheels. I think they are wrong; not sure yet.
I'm thinking of approaching MBUSA with the complaint of how embarrassing it is when guests riding in my car think there is something broken because of the loud "POP" sound that occurs 4 times when backing out of my garage and turning. MB should address this issue. It is unacceptable. I've had a dozen Mercedes-Benz and never anything remotely like this. I'll update when I know more.
I would gladly trade these beautiful 21" wheels for the 20" AMG Multi-Spoke...

All problems solved today buy replacing the ContiSportContact Summer Only tires with Perelli Scorpion Verde All Season tires. The Verde is not available in a larger size for the rear. It works by going one size larger on the front (265/40/21) and one size smaller on the rear (275/40/21).

Good info, thanks! Just to add info on Stock sizing and Alternatives that seem to work:
Stock - Summer Tires
255/40/21 - Front
285/35/21 - Rear
Alternative - All-Season Tires
265/40/21 - Front
275/40/21 or 295/35/21 - Rear
Yeah, it's funny, on the MBUSA website it's not mentioned at all during the "Building" process. You have to be a sleuth to find it, but when you are on the GLC43 Info page, you have to look at "Features", then "Design", then scroll right to optional "21-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels w/black accents", click on it and then click on "Disclaimer". THEN, finally, it talks about the "downsides" to these tires/wheels and mentions "...not designed for use on snow and ice.". I've had an easier time finding an answer to a Calculus problem...

Hello all.
I purchased the tire and wheel warranty for my 2017 GLS550. I can tell you it covers any road hazard. Not even 2 weeks from getting the vehicle I picked up a nail and screws. Drivers rear and passenger front. The warranty replaced both tires. No patches. It protects against rim damage and tires for 5 years and it covers small paint less dent repair and lost or stolen keys. I paid $1400 and the tires were invoiced at $900+. I believe it’s a good deal. Things happen.

2018 GLC 43 & 2014 SLK 350, gone 2016 E63 Wagon
I too opted for the tire and rim package when I purchased my 2018 GLC43 as well and agree it is great. I had the same package on my 2016 E63 wagon and had to have a front tire replaced - no charge.
AMG vehicles come with performance tires (summer) and not all season tires - if you buy a performance vehicle you get performance tires. When I look at the MB configuration tool in Canada, if you pick the 21 inch tire option, check the final configuration equipment list and under "wheels" is says "summer performance tires".
