Hi All,
Wanted to ask the forum if anyone has ever had a custom order vehicle arrive with the wrong options and what was the outcome at the end? My vehicle arrived yesterday and I went to the dealer to sign paperwork etc. I noticed that there was a bunch of options I didn't choose added to the vehicle. Thankfully, everything I did order was also there (including the correct color but the upgraded option). So overall, there was about $5,500 CAD in extra options that I didn't order on the vehicle.
The dealer said that most likely they will have to eat these costs and give me that car. They didn't confirm this though. I will have to hear back from someone today. I don't mind as there are additional options that are beneficial to the vehicle.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them and what was the outcome? Did the dealer step up and eat the cost? Did you have to order a new car? Let's talk about it.

if the dealer say they will eat the cost and give them to you for free. WHY NOT!

Exactly! I'm actually happy about it but I just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue and if possibly they were on the "bad" end of the screw up. For example, the car came in with less options than what was ordered or wrong color or something along those lines.

Although the green GTR was really nice, I can't fit my kids in the trunk so had to go with the GLC43.

I received a number of unordered options free as well. If you custom ordered in 2017, there were very few GLC 43's incoming. In order to meet obligations and reasonable timelines, dealers searched pre-ordered vehicles which had the requested options 9or closest to it) and offered a selection to the buyers as an alternative to waiting without any known ETA.
On my part glad to have received the options free!

Glad you received free options too! Great to hear. However, my dealer said this was a 100% order mistake on someones part. Mercedes refused to own up to the mistake so the dealer ate the costs. My estimated time when I ordered it late 2017 was pretty accurate. They told me mid April ~ early May. So I'm confident this was my car to begin with but they added a few extra's by mistake. It would be a nightmare if some options I wanted weren't there or if it was a different color etc.

I honestly don't know how that would even happen. We have never had additional equipment show up on a custom build order. We double, triple and quadruple check builds with MB and the Client. However, the orders are input by the dealership employee so whoever put in the order could have selected the wrong equipment by mistake. However, even that is a stretch because the build should have been sent to you in order to review. The only logical thing I can think of is someone that normally orders their dealer inventory may have seen your order, but there wasn't any notation of a customer name or sold notation. Thus, they could have added "easier to sell" options not knowing what was done haha. But at the end of the day, who knows.. Lots of room for human error regardless of what people think.

I can honestly say we have never had these types of errors here though.

I custom ordered my 2018 GLC43 and got exactly what was on the list. I too find it hard to understand how your vehicle could have been ordered with additional options. In the end, in my mind you should not have to pay for something that was never part of your order. Enjoy you vehicle!

In my case, my vehicle was switched out with one incoming with the closest match in equipment and colour. In the fall of 2017, the production was so far behind and issues came up. See threads in the standard GLC forum where many waited 6 or so months to get their vehicle. Some thought there was a holdup at customs, others reported not meeting emissions, ... it goes on. No one had answers. Dealers tried to accommodate upset clients with unsold vehicles they ordered for initial stock.

I had a remotely similar issue with mine. After I test drove a used OBM/Saddle Brown used GLC43, a new OBM/Saddle Brown one, and provided a OBM/Saddle Brown build for Euro delivery, I decided to buy the new one as 18's couldn't be ordered any more and 19's weren't available for order yet. When I went down to the dealership to close the deal we went out to 'my' car to put in the all-season mats and when I opened the driver's door I was greeted with black leather! The salesperson made some excuses about trying to get as close to my build as possible but I said "every car I drove/built had Saddle Brown int, how could you think one with black int is 'close'!". Luckily we hadn't signed the paperwork and the one I intended to buy was still available so it all worked out.
