Newbie question

Hi all,
seriously considering a change now to the GLC 43. I’m keen to hear your thoughts and experiences of general ownership good and bad(if any!) servicing costs , real world fuel economy etc, particularly interested to hear any uk owners out there and their thoughts in regard to the crabbing / geometry issues that have been so widely reported.
look forward to hearing from you, thanks.

Would help if we knew where you was located. Everything about the 43 is brilliant except for a few minor niggles, location of rear parking sensors being my main one. I get 22mpg UK , most of my journeys are less than 8 miles. Crabbing is all but cured if you fit all weather tyres and only a problem at low temperatures . On a service plan £35 per month. Normally get bored with my cars but 43 still excites me and nothing better out there at the price.

My GLC43 has been great. I cannot say the same about my C450.

Hi and thanks
I am in cornwall, Phil, which size wheels did you go for...I’m undecided between 20 & 21? I’m guessing ride could be irrevalant with the air suspension...?

Hi Erby, mine is on standard 19 inch wheels, even with air suspension larger wheels affect the ride. MB haven't sourced any all weather tyres for the 43 in the UK in 19 or 20 inch wheels. I ended up going to the motoring ombudsman and eventually they gave me a set of 20 inch AMG wheels fitted with winter tyres. This wasn't agreed until March this year and I won't fit them until October this year, they are stored at the dealers. 21 inch wheels are being fitted with continental tyres sourced from BMW which improve the issue. If you are ordering a 43 have a good talk to your dealer and whatever he promises get it in writing.
The crabbing is a real pain when manouevering at low speed on full lock, not the end of the world but spoils what is a great car.

I understand the GLC has a 'hill hold' type function, does this work on the flat also..? (Mine currently is great for holding the car without the need for foot on the break.)
secondly - the instrument display behind the steering wheel - i'm assuming this can be customised to show a digital speed readout..?

I note also your car detail is pretty much the same as my own 'wish spec', did you manage much (if any) of a discount from new..?

Just press the brake pedal when stopped and the car shows "hold" on the instrument panel behind steering wheel and holds until you press the brake again or touch the accelerator.

Digital display in instrument panel behind steering wheel.

Mine was an early car and not a lot of discount was available, I priced one up on carwow a couple of months ago and could get 12% off, this happened to be from the dealer I bought my car from.
