Finally Dust-Free Brake Pads for my GLC43
I’ve finally gotten my sanity back thanks to www.brakeworld.com with ceramic dust-free pads front & rear. Disc Italia / Hyper Ceramic (a seamless direct pad swap) - see boxes below for part numbers. A true 90% reduction in the annoying brake dust. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...40dcbcf36.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...fbad216af.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...807a67662.jpeg |
Another must have when doing the brake pad swap yourself (or tire rotation).... a ‘jack pad block’ as seen below: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...992353a44.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...169376e60.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...6f0a3a34f.jpeg |
Oh my god. Thank you thank you thank you. Man I had just washed my car on Saturday, Sunday I had to wipe down my wheels again. So freaking annoying.
Please chime in, about a week or two from now and let us know how everything is going regarding....stopping, dusting and performance. Thanks!! |
I never had my OEM level stopping power with any low dust brake pads on my Jeep SRT.
Hopefully it is different with the GLC. |
Thanks much for the info on this. My wheels get pretty dirty, but ceramic coating makes it easier to clean. Will look into these when time for new pads.
Is it easy to change the pads? Looks like you just remove those two pins, pull that metal piece out and slide new pads out/in...and I guess remove that sensor wire? Any grease added? I've done a lot of pad/rotor replacements, but none like this. Too lazy to search YouTube. :) Thanks! |

update... after a 125 mile drive today... the dust reduction was unreal.... almost zero dust! more updates to follow within a couple weeks. |
Too bad they don't have a GLC63 listing on their site.
|
Thank you fo this just called them as they have them for c43 also.
Pretty steep at 160 front 140 rear but worth it for no dust! |
Great for dust free. But how is the stopping performance compared to stock?? |

Pretty steep at 160 front 140 rear but worth it for no dust! Fyi... there may appear to be some moderate brake dust once the new pads are first installed but it’s the remaining dusty pad debris in the rotor drilled holes. I suggest heading to a ‘do it yourself’ quarter car wash with a spray wand and rinse the rotor holes well to remove the old dusty brake pad material. Turn the wheels 180 degrees to access the area under the caliper as well. Then the dust free journey begins. It also doesn’t hurt to clean, remove any tar and wax the inside of the rims when the wheels are off for the pad install. This is the perfectionist coming out in me. Enjoy! |

How did these turn out? Did you see any change in stopping power?
Also - will you consider swapping your rotors for the disc italia ones too? |

a true reduction of about 85-90% of the nasty black brake dust collecting on the wheels. a must change for anyone who likes to keep things clean. a necessity to me... aka mr clean. |

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...b9544c2869.jpg I am having mixed results with dust free brake pads on my GLC63. After 200 miles the front is doing great but the rear not so much. See pictures below. |
Did you have the rotors cleaned before installing. If not a lot of brake dust residue builds up in the rotors holes and keeps coming out and makes it seem like they are no better
|
Here is another option. I switch to this https://www.r1concepts.com/details/i...ar+Optimum_OEp
from r1 concepts. No more brake dust and I really feel they work better, more consistent braking feel! |

Andrew - How are the new ceramic pads wearing compared to the factory pads? Seems I've read that the AMG versions were going through rear factory pads rather quickly - like 7-10K miles.

I really want very minimal brake dust as I am getting pretty annoyed with the dirt on my wheels. Power washed and waxed my truck the other day and no more than half a day of driving my wheels are brown again. |
how are the stopping distances.. fade under hard driving?
