Transmission in S+

Is this the norm for S+? The transmission has hard shifts that create a slight clunky sound. It reminds me of a built automatic transmission in a drag Mustang I built.

Just making sure in case it is something I should bring in.

I think it's pretty normal in S+ mode. It doesn't happen all the time, but I definitely have felt it on my 43 at various times. I felt it on various AMG models at the AMG Academy, as well.

Thanks for sharing, I assumed it is the norm but just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a bad tranny or motor mount resulting in the clunk.

Not normal. If should just be a hard shift, no clunk. I'd take it in for service.

I picked up my 63 about a week ago and I noticed it to be fairly jarring when driving in sport and s+. It's extremely noticeable going from 1st to 2nd after stopping.

in S+ the vehicle becomes a bit of a bucking bronco when taking off, most noted when making a turn from a stop. the throttle seems very touchy. therefore I just stay in S mode.

S+ you really have to drive the car aggressively, otherwise keep it in Comfort or Sport. My issue is that there are times the transmission clunks between shifts which is a bit concerning. I am going to take it into the shop when I have some time and will let you all know of the outcome. It is intermittent but if I can capture it on film I will upload it.

I wouldn't describe it as a clunk but you should feel the gear change in S+. The SMG in my M5 shifted the same way, I prefer it over the newer DCT shifts
