Air suspension + active exhaust
Hello,
I am considering a GLC63s but have two main fears which I cannot find any information about.
1) Air suspension on the GLC63s
Is the air suspension reliable on this model?
I've heard about mostly older MBs having unreliable air suspension costing 10 000$ to repair but have not heard or read anything about the GLC's air suspension.
I currently own a Jeep Grand Cherokee with air suspension. It's acting up since about a month and will probably cost me a fortune to fix. This is making me really fearful of buying a MB with air suspension...
2) Active exhaust during winter time
Out here in Canada we get pretty harsh winters with salt, snow, ice, etc.
I fear that the active exhaust system will get jammed up and break during winter.
Do any current owners have experience with the active exhaust during winter time? Recommendations?
Thanks.

If you don't plan on modifying, the warranty will be there if it happens to fail.
My GLC43 has air suspension, 27K miles no issues so far. I have also been running wider wheels/tires for 3K miles and no issues.
As for active exhaust, nothing would break. Everything is internal if im not mistaken.

I honestly don't buy a car and start thinking about the negative, I buy it and enjoy it. If it gives me a major issue I just get rid of it and move on. No worth the stress is a machine and things will happen.
I own many Mercedes and just purchased a 2019 GLC63 Coupe 3 months ago, I added a tune, lowered the SUV and couldn't be happier. Is a beast!

Thanks for the reply. Maybe the warranty is different in the US but here in Canada it's 4 years and 80 000km (50k miles).
4 years is still pretty good. I will most likely buy extended warranty considering my past experiences and MB cost to maintain.

2018 GLC 43 & 2014 SLK 350, gone 2016 E63 Wagon
I currently own a 2018 GLC43 with air suspension and active exhaust. Previously I owned a 2016 E63 wagon and did not have any problems with the air suspension. The active exhaust is all internal to the system so winters will not affect it. You have warranty if anything goes wrong with the air suspension in the first 4 years. I have never had any problems with the air suspension. The air suspension is covered under the extended warranty to you could go that way if you are concerned about t reliability.

$10K?!!
MB have cars with air suspension for about 15 years now and it's very reliable! $10000 in repairs is not accurate at all! ALL cars will have issues and go broke some time! That's why you have warranty and can extend it as well.
Just buy it and enjoy!

I have a 09 cls with air suspension, a front strut went at 150,000 must be replaced in pairs got them from arnott lifetime warranty. Replace rears at 200,000 only because they had 200,000 and thought they might be worn, they weren't but replaced any way. Ride is like new. Oem were about $1800 for fronts, arnotts were $ 350.( I'm guessing). Very easy to replace .
