Before I begin, please let me apologise in advance - I'm not a car expert so I might be using the wrong terms/lingo when describing things. Also, first-time poster...

Recently purchased a GLC 63s in Australia (< two months ago) so we drive RHS. From the get-go, I noticed "crabbing issues" which I initially thought were just caused by poor road conditions.

Admittedly, I didn't do enough research on common issues GLC models as well as being more prominent in RHS model prior to the purchase. Earlier this week as I entered a roundabout <less than 15kmph, the crabbing got so severe that the wheels locked up followed by a loud pop which the engine stalled and refuse to start.

So there I was, completely dead in the water in the middle of one of Sydney's most busy roundabout at 8:30 in the morning trying to not cause a traffic scene (god bless the cars coming and behind me that stopped in time). The engine finally started again but now with a loud hissing noise.

Took it to the dealers and told them that I could've been killed or at least severely injured and they brushed off everything I told them and said the crabbing is a STANDARD characteristic of the car. Their service department just called me and said some pipe that connects the engine to the turbo snapped and needs to be replaced. Warranty is covered yida yada...

I've driven my fair share of MB vehicles but now I've lost complete confidence in this model/brand after reading all the GLC related issues and want to see if anyone especially here in Australia experienced a similar issue and if this warrants a claim for a complete refund?

Hey I have a glc63s bought a few months back dealer demo traded my ml63 5.5. These glc have a major crabbing issue if I new this before I probably wouldn't of bought it. 10000kmz already done a set of front CVS not sure what the front axles are like yet getting replaced next week. I think the ml gle is a lot more solid car.

Face lift model was still abit to pricey so got the glc for now.

A hp injection will make things better or worse haha

I have a 2019 GLC63S and absolutely hate it. Might get a Quadrifoglio while I wait for a new GLE63S.....

Yeah nothing wrong with engine. Just think the glc is abit of a slap together in Australia my 63s was 185k brand new quality is not their for a car of this value

OMG! $185k! Are they nuts!? It costs a max of about $109k in Canada. And it is vastly overpriced at that!

Interestingly, i found out from a fellow that my local dealer has over 85 units and they can't sell them worth a damn because people just don't like them for the price. One can get a Platinum Escalade for less money, which is 10 times the vehicle. My guess is that they will be heavily discounted within the next year.

Nothing gets the attention of a major company like an economic slap in the face!

I'm going to get rid of ours ASAP and will replace it with a GLE63S as soon as we can order one.

In the meantime, I will probably get a Quadrifoglio or something that I just won't hate quite as bad as the GLE63S for the next 18 months.

Yep I paid 128k dealer demo would of cost 185k brand new. Gle much better my ml was alot more solid

There's plenty of threads where the crabbing issue has been discussed to ad nauseam. Summer tires are not made fo cold weather regardless of the car you drive. Happens on my STI and M3 as well not to the extent which is did in the GLC but the tires are substantially larger. I ended up getting a set of winter rims and haven't had an issue since. If you have the summer tires they recommend not using them in temperatures under 45 degree Fahrenheit.

One of my previous cars was Cadillac CTS-V (rear wheel drive).
It also had a crabbing issue with summer tires but only when backing up and turning.
Winter tires in colder temperatures solved this problem.

I paid 153k USD for a GLC43, if it makes you feel any better.

While the crabbing issue has been discussed ad nauseum on many threads, to the OP, there is no way that should be acceptable like some have argued. I've had my fair share of 4wd's and none even come close to this much crabbing. I personally just live with it (I have no choice), but its getting worse as the tyres wear.
