I haven't noticed, but yes I get the same message. The new app has already been rolled out in Europe. It's called Mercedes Me 2020 and has had positive reviews. It gets much more frequent updates. I think it's a whole new team behind it to be more responsive to customer requests etc. Good to see that the rollout seems to be imminent for North America. They are doing some major maintenance at the moment affecting the Private Lounge, and the Mercedes Me Web portal and app switched back to showing a generic car graphic instead of my actual car since the maintenance started. It might be part of the rollout.
Mine still works as normal and has the picture of my exact car and all details.
What year is yours? This only affects the newer cars with MBUX and COMAND 5.5 which use the Mercedes Me Connect platform/app. Older models use a different app and mBrace.
why don't they focus on getting the amg race.app working those *******s charge for an option then u can't use
The AMG Track Pace app has been abandoned and instead it runs on the COMMAND/MBUX system directly now. The app approach was a failure from the start. It always needed to be in the car itself. If you have the HUD, it shows the braking zones now, and the other displays show the track layout and upcoming turns and you get continuous time feedback on how fast you are compared to previous laps. Here are a couple of pics from when I used it on the Nurburgring during my European Delivery. It also has a ton of telemetric you can record as you drive and you can time your 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs as well as 0-100, 0-200 etc.

The new app is here! They kept the name instead of calling it Mercedes Me 2020 as in Europe. Just need to update the current app from the store. Sharing destinations from other apps is back, yey! Car image could use some work. I wanna see my car uncovered. At least the shape appears to be a C Class coupe.

I tried right after I saw your post and (at least to me) it did not properly work. I would enter a destination address on Google Maps, hit directions, then share it to my car and the address I would get in the car's navigation would be the one I'm departing from not the destination one...

Weird... mine shows uncovered...
Works fine for me. I just sent one. I think you must not hit directions, otherwise that shares your current position. Just find the destination in Google Maps and then share it.
Regarding the car picture, it looks like it's certain models and builds that fail to generate the correct image and then it falls back to a default. I have the same issue in the web portal seeing a covered SUV, which has nothing remotely to do with my car. It was working briefly for a couple of weeks or so in the old app and the portal, but it reverted back to the old behavior during the recent maintenance. Hoping they'll fix it again.
Thanks. I was hitting directions on google maps, then tapping on the 3 dots, and sending it to the car. I'll try with just a location, instead of directions. BTW, I tried it with Waze but it does not seem to work at all...

I don't know about Waze. I'm not using Waze anymore. It's been a buggy mess recently and I was never really impressed with it, but I just tried Apple Maps and it doesn't work there, either, Yelp works, though. Must be differences in how apps share locations. I'll probably submit a ticket, because sometimes I search for a place directly on the phone and would like to be able to share it with the car. In that case it's Apple Maps sharing.

Following up on my own post. I ended up logging out of the app, then deleting it and install it fresh related to another issue and now the destination sharing works from Apple Maps as well. Might wanna try that and see if that makes it work with Waze.
Thanks! The issue is that, unlike Google Maps or Apple Maps, Waze gives you directions to a place instead of the place's coordinate location, so I don't think it will work in its current form.

how you do that? I don't see it in either Apple / Google Map nor Waze, or is it done via Mercedes Me?
On Apple Maps use the Share option, then select the Mercedes me connect app.
On Google Maps look for the Share button, sometimes at the top (or inside the 3 menu dots), or sometimes by swiping left at the bottom. The default is Directions, followed by Start, Call, Save, and then Share. If you swipe up on that ‘drawer’ then the Share icon moves to the top of the screen.
On Waze you press the 3 menu dots on the top right of the “drawer” then select Send. In the new Send location ‘drawer’ I had to select More options and there was the Mercedes me connect app.
Basically in all of them look for the Share icon/button that looks like a square with an up arrow coming out the top of the square; and the information above is for current iOS, don’t know about Android devices.
What exactly does this refresh of the old app improve on? I liked how the old one showed the lock status on the home page - now it only shows up if your car is unlocked. I guess we just assume that no news on the home page is good news. Sharing directions from Apple Maps is cool I guess. Maybe that's new. Anything else?

First and foremost it's a new user experience. Whether that is an improvement or not is subjective to some extent. It does look cleaner, IMO. Secondly, the individual functions are supposed to be more reliable. They seem to not have rolled out all the features yet, and I suspect it's because not all of them meet the new reliability requirement. The old app worked on and off. For example, the app is supposed to send notifications if the car is left unlocked when parked, so you can look it from the phone. With the old app, those notifications worked maybe about 70-80% of the time. So far they seem more reliably with the new app. I don't think it has missed one yet. Remote start and remote lock/unlock are also supposed to be more reliable. Remote start didn't always work on the first attempt with the old app, although I never use it, but it's what I heard. I use remote lock/unlock periodically and with the old app it sometimes didn't refresh the lock status or it just kept spinning even though the car already completed the lock sequence. So far this also seems to work better in the new app. I don't mind the new app being simpler and not have the complete functionality yet if the functionality it does have actually works. The app is also developed by a new team as far as I know, and it's supposed to be updated much more regularly compared to the 3-6 months of the old one. I also never managed to successfully submit a support ticket with the old app. It either crashed or I never got a response. I submitted a couple of issues with the new app, and got a response. I'm optimistic that this app will get more attention and is maintained and updated moving forward and that issues get fixed quickly. If that happens, then this update is worth a lot.
