CPO 2024 AMG GLC 43 – Paid $5k for 3-Year Maintenance Plan… Overpaid?

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a CPO 2024 AMG GLC 43 with about 18k miles. This is my first AMG, so I’m still trying to understand realistic maintenance costs at the dealership level. Over the next ~3 years, I expect to hit Service A, Service B, then Service A. I know AMG maintenance is more expensive than regular Mercedes, but I didn’t have a good reference point at the time of purchase.

At the dealer, I purchased a 3-year maintenance plan for $5,000. Now I’m questioning whether that was a fair price. I’m located in California, so I can cancel the plan if needed.
Here’s where it gets confusing:

The dealer told me the plan covers:
  • All three scheduled services (A, B, A)
  • Spark plug replacement
  • Transmission oil change + filter
To verify, I emailed Mercedes-Benz directly. MB responded that they contacted the dealer on my behalf, and according to them:
  • The plan does NOT cover spark plugs
  • The plan does NOT cover transmission oil & filter
So now I’m honestly confused about what I actually bought.

Questions for the group:

  1. Is $5k reasonable for 3 years of AMG GLC 43 maintenance at dealer pricing?
  2. Has anyone seen a Mercedes maintenance plan that truly includes spark plugs and transmission service, or is that usually excluded?
  3. Would you keep the plan, or cancel and pay as you go?
Any insight from AMG owners or Bay Area folks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I bought a used 2021 GLC63 and took it to get serviced at the dealership. I got all the details of the warranty and mine was going to expire within 1 week.

They offered me an extended 3yr warranty for 10K, so your price sounds better then my offer. I didn't take the warranty, but I remembered it didn't include maintenance services. That would be a maintenance plan.

I just got quoted $1500 for Service B ($569) and transmission service ($880 transmission service alone, no plugs). I feel that any major issue with my 63 will quickly rack up the in the thousands.
If I was offered 3k warranty for my 63, I would have taken it even if it didn't include maintenance.

I would get more details on what it does cover and get it in writing, especially if whoever sold it to you said it included the services you mentioned.

I'm in Bay Area, service my GLC in the South Bay.

Hope this helps.

I would cancel. I use an Indy mechanic for my GLE. A is $200. B is $200 for oil, $200 for brake fluid, $200 for filters (if even needed - sometimes they aren’t even dirty enough).

Spark plugs done March ‘24 for around $700. Transmission done March ‘25 for around $800. So that’s about $2500 for 2 A, 1 B, plugs and transmission. Even if the dealer charges double (likely) you’re at that $5k mark BUT I also agree with MB Corporate that the spark plugs and transmission are not included. I would read your contract but $5k is exorbitant for 2 A and 2 B services.

Thanks! Your quote is really helpful. I will definitely ask for something in writing.

$5k is maintenance only, not include any warranty. 10K for 3 years warranty sounds expensive. I did not buy extra warranty since mine is still under warranty + CPO so current warranty is until 60k miles.
$1,500 for service B + transmission work sounds not a bad deal at dealership. Spark plugs would be cheaper than transmission work, especially my 43 only i4. That's why I see no discount to pay $5k in advance.

Thanks! I just don't see any deal from buying from dealer with that $5k. Maybe prepaid just to prevent future inflation?
I would have to ask something in writing or I would just cancel it.

Pre-paid maintenance is a good idea while under factory warranty/CPO. However if you're not in either of those scenarios, a trusted Mercedes-Benz/European independent would be less than any discounted pre-paid maintenance plan at the dealership.

Will be Glc43 in few weeks
In Europe not the same prices

In Germany, amg mechanics costs 50 to 100% more than mb mechanics (in the same mb dealer) so about 200€/hour.
I paid 30€ per month for maintenance at my mb dealer in belgium for 5 years with oil, filter, spark plugs included. But I have to add that this price wasn't normal, my MB salesman told me that the system probably gave the same price as for an in line 4 glc 200... So I signed it very quickly indeed !!
Now my glc43 is 9 years old and no more contract possible so I pay about 600€-800€ for the annual maintenance (overall A/B).
The warranty extension was about 1200€ for 2 years more than the 2 years warranty (legal in europe).
fyi

Spark plugs and transmission service are included IF your car calls for those services at the specified year or mileage that is covered, in which case the price may not be too bad. The benefit is that you are covered should inflation lead to price hikes.

I would call a couple of dealers and ask what they currently charge for the services you will need, I am sure it is not anywhere near reasonable. The advantage of using a dealer is that their is no question if you need waranty services, you build some good will, and you help support the economy in a measurable way (lol).

The year and mileage of your car and expected mileage over the next three years are crucial to figure out if this is a good price. You also need the maintenance schedule for your car to determine exactly what services will be required.

Ngk, bosch spark plugs for glc43 are 16€ piece.
champion is 12€ piece.
So, totally negligeable.

If i remember correctly, they changed the spark plugs at around 60k km (but i might be wrong on this).
