Sport exhaust with AMG Line Exterior

So, there are two exhaust pipes, and what looks like it could be a valve in the larger one on the bottom. Is it the case there is a Sport mode which opens up the second pipe I wonder? Maybe your sales guy could get a wider view shot?

I got all excited looking at a new link on the Canadian site for the 2020 GLE:
https://www.mercedes-benz.ca/en/vehicles/class/gle/suv

Just to find out the configurator button at the bottom of the page is not functional. :wall:

The GLE53 AMG is about to drop either today or tomorrow.

How about the plug-in hybrid?

Chaznik 02-26-2019 02:31 PM

Will it not be the 63? AMG have put up a teaser video and the reflection look like a panamericana grill to me?!

er order guide

Hey, does anyone have a pdf of the latest order guide? My dealer is telling me the mbux package has changed, something about the gesture recognition not being available?

MBUX

Has anyone else on here been told the MBUX full package isn't available? Something about the gesture recognition (I assume for the lights turning on, being able to tell the driver from the passenger?). The new package being somewhat different?

That sounds very questionable. That feature is called MBUX Interior Assistant. The only thing I can imagine is they pulled it out into a stand alone option. Ask for a clarification.

That is much quicker than expected! Wonder how long until US orders open up? You going to cancel your current order, Ron.s?

Standard with what sounds like Active Curve, which I wish was available on the 450. I'm surprised it doesn't get a brake upgrade beyond the 450 AMG Line package - same whimpy floating calipers (maybe fixed an option?). Also Summer tires and different 22" wheels than on Euro models.

I did ask. He said no cars will have the interior assistant as of now.

With Mercedes these days it could be like April or September lol. Seriously though I would imagine in early summer for a fall/winter on sale/release.

Disappointed to see the Panamericana grille on the 53. It really should be reserved for top of the line 63 and GT cars.

I think they needed something to clearly differentiate it from the AMG-wannabe 350 & 450s. Likely the 63 will get the same grille with a more aggressive valance.

I agree, although one could argue that the 53 is also a "wannabe" AMG :)

Premium brand dilution

BMW has done the same thing with their M brand - diluted it in the search for more profit. Now Mercedes has AMG-lite and xtra-lite.

I actually agree with both companies decisions to do so. IMO, many customers (like me) want some of the AMG appearance upgrades without the high performance engines, loud exhaust, and uncomfortable seats that goes with a true AMG 63. The new X5 M Package is a beautiful looking ride but without the very high cost of a true M car. That said, I think the seats in the GLE 53 may not be for me.
