If you roll down the window a bit and look at the edge, it should look like two layers of glass separated by a black line. Here’s a couple of photos I pulled off the GLC section. Sorry for the bad pics.

Is the new GLE like the other Benz models where the infrared-blocking laminate that comes with the Acoustic windshield has 3 "holes" for your toll or gate transponder (a rectangular spot on either side of rearview mirror overhead console, and one down low in the center right above the dashboard)? The 3 spots are visible from certain angles (and looks like there is a little dot matrix pattern). This could be one way to tell if your car has the acoustic comfort package or not.

Yes, it does have a few locations to accommodate a tollway transponder.

2020 GLE Owner's Manual

Some time ago there was posted a PDF of the owner's manual dated 2018-09-27 that is more current than the one that was coming in the vehicles, but it was very low res, with the illustrations very poor. The one on Mercedes me is still for the 2016, but I found a link for a Hi Res (16 Mb) version of the newer one here: https://www.mbusa.com/en/owners/manuals#

Download and enjoy!

Mercedes-Benz Korea recalls ‘The New GLE’ right after launch

Mercedes-Benz Korea recalls ‘The New GLE’ right after launch:

http://www.koreaittimes.com/news/art...ml?idxno=92941

I probably have the same issue (even though the dealer pretended it was a "minor SIM card issue related to the control panel") and that's why the handover of my GLE was delayed last Friday to an unknown date...

Checking and/or correcting the drain lines doesn't take long.

Sure it shouldn't take long but already more than one week and still no news! This is probably not the only issue to fix...

I do have a question on airmatic suspension. Time might be too soon to tell but I can only speak from what I have read and heard on our w211 section. That was a problem with w211's and airmatic suspension as it would eventually fail/leak...etc. Which was then expensive to fix, and many users ended up taking out the airmatic suspension and put in a regular coil spring/coilover setup. Perhaps more of a general question but has airmatic gotten better from MB? I ask only because with certain options/features of the GLE with the ability to lower when you turn off the vehicle and or adjust height, in the back of my mind I'm thinking failure down the road which is something I'd like to not have to worry about.

Thanks,
-Nigel

You are right that time will tell. I get my cars at the start of a model cycle and keep them until the next one (~7 years). On my 2006 ML I had some issues with the system that were fixed just before warranty expiration. I had no issues with Airmatic in my 2012 ML which I had for over 7 years. For me the risk of issues is worth it. Mercedes has a good warranty program and has stepped up with "goodwill" help on other things after warranty for me in the past. I now have E-ABC, which is Arimatic on steroids and am a little concerned about long term reliability, which is why I got the extended warranty.

I have had a Mercedes since 2002 and this would be my 6th Benz but I’m seriously thinking of switching to X5.
Pricing is much better on X5 and after test driving X5 Gle350 and 450 the 350 is very underpowered. The Gle450 is very tough to get now and dealerships can’t guarantee a truck anytime soon. I think Mercedes really dropped the ball on the current GLE in terms of production pricing and availability and did I mention the X5 has maintenance included. I hope things change from now until November as I would really like to be driving the Gle 450 but that seems unlikely at this point. My lease expires soon so options are leaning towards X5.

Audi Q5
I ordered my GLE 450 middle of March and my Audi lease expired end of June, , so I bought out my Audi and am driving it until the GLE arrives, no problem, I have only 24,000 kilometers on my 2016 Audi. I looked into an X5 but it just didn't do it for me and it was more expensive to make it the way I've optioned my GLE, I'm still waiting!

Base price on the GLE & X5 I6 AWD models is virtually identical, $62,145 vs $62,195 with delivery (think that's a coincidence?). It's been a while since I compared feature to feature pricing, but I had the impression the X5 is roughly on par with the GLE price-wise, if not a little more. I've never had a BMW SAV, but have loved my cars. The 3-years included maintenance is a nice perk (used to be 4). I think the 48 volt system in the GLE 450 is a big advantage, however. The X5 is likely easier to procure at the moment, which may be a deciding factor.

I configured an X5 online last night and found that it came out less expensive than the build I put together for my GLE450. I wasn’t trying to do a direct comparison, just selected the equipment I wanted, so it’s probably not apples to apples, but I did put together a nice rig for less money.

How do we confirm the software is the latest release? I ask the service team to confirm they checked - but they always say yes, not sure if I believe it.

I know we have OTA updates, but are there updates that would be too big for OTA - requiring a dealer visit?

You can't confirm anything unfortunately because 99% of the dealers don't have that information....

I don’t know if any Vehicle OTA updates are available yet, except Maps. All of mine have been done by the dealer. I might have had one in Early July because my car required setup of all my personalization like when it was delivered. I say might because the Dealer has no notice and I had no notification either. I have had 2 OTA map updates accompanied by an onscreen message. Mercedes may not be ready to update OTA and ECU and TCU updates may always be Dealer required for security reasons since they affect Emissions.

2016 GLE400
Finally our country recieved few GLE450s and I had the chance to test one of them. It was with steel springs and good amount of options.
I liked the MBUX, transmission, auto start/stop system, the desing and how comfy it was. But i felt there was not much changed between the 450 and our 2016 GLE400. Maybe cause it was on comfort or maybe my driving was light.

Anyways the agency told me there are a late in the delivery as the ship has tilted and some of the cars were affected

It would help if you filled in your location so we know what country you are talking about.

Hey guys. Looking at getting a GLE to replace the wife's SQ5 and I think we have settled on a 450 in emerald Green. I was browsing around and came across this 350 that seems pretty much loaded but it has power 2nd row seats yet no 3rd row pkg.
I didn't think it was possible to get a GLE with power 2nd row without also getting the 3rd row pkg. Anyone have any insight on how this car got optioned this way?

There were early builds with some odd configs not available on the DOG. If it were me, I would avoid getting one that doesn't have a recent build date. Better yet order one and get what you want.

I forgot to mention that the vehicle would probably be one built in early spring and sitting in open storage for months.
