The German site is showing a combined fuel economy of 8.3 l / 100km

That would be 28.34 mpg if it holds up in the US. Impressive.

Per my post #1573, that is not the number the German Configurator gives me in the Summary, which is 9.41 l/100km = 25.0 mpg. Per the 11/18 press release it states "NEDC fuel consumption 9.4-8.3 l/100 km combined." It seems to vary depending on what equipment you select. Also, as I noted, European economy numbers are almost always higher than the EPA's.

New year, how about new News?

It's been a month since anything new came out. With some of our cars being built in another month it would be nice to have:
  • Full option clarity and pricing
  • Updated Dealer Order Guide
  • MBUSA online Configurator
  • Full road test reviews
  • Date when first cars will reach dealers; is there going to be any embargo?
Often there is a tour of dealers with a group of vehicles for a preview in advance of delivery; don't know if that will happen this time.

Greg, I included a screenshot from the German site and the numbers are for the GLE 450 gasoline inline 6. Of course the EPA numbers may be lower but I would hope this engine can achieve something close to 28 MPG for combined driving. Some earlier chatter even suggested up to 34 MPG. We will know soon enough.

I also included a screenshot in #1573 - results may vary. Even with improved aero and electric assist, given the current GLE 400 is rated at 20 combined (same as my 2012), and given the Euro numbers, no way it will be close to 28. 23 would be a reasonable guess. I'm willing to place a wager on that

A new DOG should be out in the next day or two if it follows timing of the last two. Let’s hope it loses the preliminary designation and has all the pricing. A configurator should come soon also. Any one ordering now is probably looking at late spring early or summer so why oh why MB? With all the production and available cars it’s a mystery why there isn’t something planned for a dealer kickoff of some kind.

Question Metal Weave

I made the mistake of looking at a close up picture of the metal weave trim on a forum ( https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...eave-trim.html ) here. It looks beautiful. Since my order isn't locked in, I am considering changing from the natural grain walnut (seats are Espresso Brown/Magmagrey leather). Anyone else here ordering the metal weave?

The walnut trim goes very well with the Espresso leather. Here is a promo Mercedes put out a few months ago that is one of the best looks at Espresso with walnut trim:

Any good chance for addtional options, wheels etc (grasping at straws)?

That looks great. I think my decision is final. Natural grain walnut it is.

I was going with it for a while, but it is metal trying to look like carbon fiber. I decided on the Black Ash with my black upholstery, but with your upholstery I think I agree with Joe that the Walnut would be good.

Here is a pic of the metal weave with Espresso Brown:

Who the hell knows except MBUSA? Undoubtedly some additional options will become available after production is up and running smoothly, but what and when is the question.

Maybe one of those vents for the scent if you get the air balance program?

Really? In the current car aren’t the mics in the headliner?

Greg, I know you've been wondering about the availability of Magic Vision Control wipers on the new GLE. Check out this video at 11:30 minutes. He talks about that feature. They also demo the new Stop-n-Go feature.

The San Antonio vehicles obviously had features not yet available here, despite this being a US press event. That was not made clear to the journalists.
