Keeping cost down

My 2012 ML 350 was $66k, but that was almost 7 years ago. For this order I went with a non-metallic color and the Dinamica upholstery and avoided the autonomous nannies. If I'd done Airmatic instead of the E-ABC it would be About $77k, and that includes the AMG packages, cameras, 21" wheels, trailer hitch, Panorama roof, etc.

Somehow I thought I could take off 399 multicontour massage seats, but I see now my dealer added it because it's required for the Driver Plus Package. Not sure if I'm going to change that out or not, but it's on the table. My order won't go in till the next opening from MB, supposedly this month, so I still have time for change.

One of the safety features is to move you away from the door if there is side impact...assume it’s the seat that does that. I had 3 weeks after my order was accepted to make changes so you could have most of January. Hopefully the configurator will appear soon, that should help you play with options and required features.

I agree, but we'd order a 450 or 53 nealry fully loaded....was hoipng they're be a disticnt cost advantage for the 450 over say an Audi 3.0 Q7 since it's made in Europe, and the GLE is made right here...this has to save MB many thousands of $'s per vehicle.

I will probably cave and get the package, even if it means I have to pay for the massage feature. Once the safety label is on an option, I feel like it's not a luxury.
ohwell.

I don't think you will ever see a discount or lower price based on factory location. They make shipping as neutral as possible. Just like in the US you pay the same shipping for a Ford or Chevy if you are near the factory or 2000 miles away.
We may pay a little less than Europe but it's hard to calculate with all the different factors like currency and tarrifs.

Just had a call from my dealer to let me know the Option 958A (interior Black/Magmagrey Exclusive Nappa Leather) is now showing up on the option sheet - had been shown as "Delayed Ordering". This was then final piece of the puzzle for me so I will be going in on Thursday to finalize the order for a mid/ late March delivery. Some progress I guess.

Nice but unless something changed to schedules you are at least a month optimistic. My Nov order is scheduled for March.

Engines, transmissions and lots of other parts are still shipped over from Europe.

I have been lurking for a few months, but new to posting. The 2020 GLE will be my first Mercedes Benz, so I'm trying to understand what is included in a few of the Packages I want to add.

Active Parking Assist is listed under Standard Equipment. So if I add Parking Assist Package, will I get anything extra other than the Surround View System?

Looking at the $1600 price tag for Tech package.... If one can get the Augmented Video standalone for $300; then the Heads Up display + MBUX Interior Assistant in effect costs $1300. What actually is in this MBUX Interior Assistant (since Voice Control comes standard on all GLE? How are they different - the "gestures" feature? Plus, I will have to add in the MB-Tex dash for $450 as well, so looking into what I will get for this $2000 upgrade.

I believe the Surround View 360-degree cameras is it.

You read that right. The Head-Up Display is the main add. The Interior Assistant is what recognizes driver vs. passenger inputs, or can turn on the light when you reach into the passenger seat for something, for instance. I love the HU display in my BMW is the main reason I'm getting it.

I would say the MB-Tex dash (or leather if you prefer) is a worthwhile upgrade regardless of whether you get this.

I think it may depend on the individual dealer's allocation - my dealer has 6 slots in the first decade of production and my order is number 4. But we will see. Good luck to both of us.

The MB HUD is very good and their Night Vision Plus is THE best I've ever used...fighter plane like lock on tech amazing....the NV in our Q7 doesn;t hold a candle to it.

My updated build:
Wow that is loaded. Why not consider a GLE53 when it arrives, I bet it will be very close to that in price.

I think at this rate 53 will be more than 93k fully loaded.

I hadn’t thought about a dealer using their inventory allocation for a custom order so you may be good to go. I was the first order at my dealer but cut a great price and didn’t think about asking for a dealer allocation customized to my specs. At the time my dealer didn’t have allocation info anyway so just another issue with early orders.

As I've said previously, I may end up ordering an AMG 53 next year. I like handing my money to Mercedes.

As I stated earlier on in this thread, a moderately optioned 53 might be a better way to go than a heavily optioned 450 (due to the extras that come standard in the 53)...

Every order is from a dealer allocation. They can use it for a customer order, or spec it themselves for stock.

The 2019 GLE 43 is ~$12k more than the 400. Of course you do get more things standard, but it’s still a significant up charge.

As a side note the 2020 GLE 450 is quicker to 60 than the current 2019 GLE 43; 5.5s vs. 5.6.
