Thanks for the post. Did you happen to ask if they are for sale or demo units (for test drives only, not for sale)?

I'm willing to place a wager on that

Okay, Joe, hate to say I told you so!

Interesting they're calling the 450 a "hybrid vehicle."

FWIW, some reviewers observed real-world combined MPG higher than the 21 MPG combined results.

One example: 27 MPG - https://www.thecarconnection.com/ove...gle-class_2020

Thanks, I'm thinking they are both demo units and cannot be sold. My local dealer just got an A Class demo.

Your results may vary. Of course, relying on the in car computer for mileage is not always the most accurate. History shows it tends to be optimistic. I was hoping for a little better rating, but it's still better than the current car with more power.

Two GLE 350 demo units were shipped to my dealer over the weekend, he had no advance notice they were coming. My wife and I will be test driving them later this afternoon so I'll post my impressions when we get back. As for our order, no change in status, still slated for a March 24 completion.

Maybe the plug in hybrid is the way to go for better fuel economy. That's what I'm waiting for.

Of course that's what diesels excel at. If MB brings in the GLE 350d or 400d I'm sure it will be competitive.

How come the reviews all were getting combined MPG around 25-28? Maybe the real world highway MPG will be more better than this. I commute 90 miles a day 5 days a week so I can potentially be able to fill up once on the weekend and do about 24-25 mpg x 23 gallons to get about 575 or so miles on a tank. The tank is 24.5 gallons so its durable that I can do 600 miles on it. Still gonna stick with my order on the GLE450

I’m not certain on this but... I think that EPA is calculated using the most aggressive driving mode. On our 2018 SQ 5 it’s easy to beat the EPA even at 80mph Freeway speeds in Comfort mode. But not in Dynamic mode where it’s a more aggressively tuned engine and shifts designed to hold R’s higher. I’m guessing, (maybe hoping) that it works that way in the GLE.

Since I have young children, I can attest they are very useful in helping out for ingress and egress. Funny thing is I never dirty my pant legs, but my wife does when it isn’t her boots.

I saw one with Dec 4 still marked Prelim. There should be US pricing now that loses the Prelim.
Oops, meant Feb 4

Post #2178 (2/12) has latest with almost all pricing; still marked "preliminary," though. Also includes my updated spread sheets. I am reposting all here.

Just returned from our test drive. Both demo units were base GLE 350's with almost no options (only Active Lane Keeping Assist). That said, we were impressed with the MBUX system that comes standard. The touch-screen is very easy to use. The touch-pad is quite sensitive to your touch and will take a little getting use to. The small touch pads on the steering wheel are easy to use. The 12.3" displays are hi-def and very readable. The grab handles actually looked nice and were not as noticeable when sitting in the car. They felt natural while driving and I found myself resting my right arm while holding the grab handle. After adjusting the front seat exactly where I wanted it, I sat in the 2nd row seat and was very pleased with the amount of legroom. I'm 5' 10" and had 5 or 6 inches of room in front of my knees. The rear cargo area was also very roomy looking. Out on the road it handles much more nimble than our GLS 550 but that is expected. The 4 cylinder engine moves the car easily but we noticed some engine noise when hitting the gas harder. I expect the I6 to behave better with an additional 107 hp. I'll post some pics later.

So these are Demo units-not for resale? Any word on the DOG going off Prelim or Release Date for the GLE?
