Its always been the old typical mindset of the MBUSA people. They update their website last minute when they are ready to go but are wimps. They just follow protocol and try to sell the last old generation GLE and then update their website last minute for new GLE. Its lame...

Count me in that group. That said, at my last class reunion there were some old people in attendance.😉

1 year!!!!

All, I started this thread one year ago today (JoeMa was post #2, Germancar1 came in on #24), with the prediction that deliveries would start by last Fall - well, as we've seen, M-B has been pretty hard to predict and has tried our patience. We now have over 2,600 posts but, beyond quantity, I think this has been a model forum. There has been little in the way of bickering, ego posts, gratuitous posts, etc. Newcomers are welcomed and everyone seems eager to contribute to our common education and understanding. Hopefully some of us will soon be able to post about their deliveries, then ultimately modding and problems!

Keep it up!

Some have reported better, but 2.5% is not bad for the first of a new model. I have yet to negotiate, which puts me in a weak position, but this is the third car I've bought from this guy so I know he will do something for me.

Thanks Greg, Joe and many others. I joined the Forum undecided on my next purchase and having only superficial knowledge about Mercedes. This Forum has been very helpful to me and the quality of the information....is as good as it gets.

Hey Ron, I have good friend coming off an Audi S5 lease next year and he's considering the just announced 'updated' GLC (possibly the AMG variant) or an Audi SQ5. What are your thoughts on the SQ5 you own?

Great Forum

I am very glad to have this forum for information and questions. This will be the most informed car purchase I have ever made, thanks so much to Greg and all the participants!

Does anyone know if there is a way to distinguish the early demo cars from cars produced later on? With the earlier reports of demo cars having issues, don't want to get one of those.

I know some brands such as Porsche distinguish these types of cars by an option code.

In our case maybee there's a vin range we should avoid?

this is helpful for us looking to get something off the lot when normal inventory starts coming in

There's a build date sticker on the drivers door jam. If you want to avoid early built cars look for build date after February or March 2019.
But that doesn't guarantee it will be bug free, as it's still early in the model's life.

One way I can think of is to check the manufactured date. The date is shown on a label inside the drivers door. If the GLE was built Feb 2019 or sooner, it is a demo until.

I love the SQ5 and don’t really have anything negative to say. We chose it over the GLC and X3 performance models, but the refreshed GLC tech might have changed our decision had it been available then. All 3 have some advantages. My wife wanted a Lexus RX at first. When we took that off the shopping list we spent a year looking and driving them all repeatedly. We might have selected the Jag F Pace except for the poor build quality and funky tech.
The Audi has many of the characteristics of the Porsche Macan in a more functional package at a lower price. The Audi Tech is robust, flawless, fast and with good screen resolution (dual Tegra3) I found it easy to use but my wife might not agree. Audi has now moved to native Android replacing their old system but I don’t know if that has happened yet in the SQ5. One thing I like about Audi is they don’t lock the system. I bought an $80 OBD device that allows a lot of customization. I turned off the seat belt warning, double chirp on locking and also activated traffic signs and Lane Keep Assist that weren’t available on my early build.
They are both good choices so it might get down to what looks good to your friend and how he likes driving them.

I actually got addicted to this Post ever since I thought about buying the new GLE. This post has so much information that I literally gave the Sales guy a training class about all the features and options. Hopefully I will order mine soon and post some pictures. But Kudos to Greg and all the members for their valuable inputs.

Since I currently own a 17 GLS 550 and owned two others, I visit the GLS forum every now and then to keep track of the next-gen GLS. This video was posted today and it's the first clear look at the dash in the GLS. It's nearly identical to the GLE which is no surprise as previous generations of both SUV's shared nearly identical looking dashes. Check it out:

Completely agree with you on this. I literally gave a lesson to the sales guy when I went yesterday to test drive. As someone mentioned before this will be the most informed car purchase. I come to this page more often than going to MBUSA page(where I go only to check if the most awaited "build your own" option is active).

I can certainly say that we will be the happiest group of car enthusiasts in a couple of months when we get ours delivered.

Thanks, Greg and everyone!

Those are the R46; quite expensive as €3,500 option on the 450 where they are NOT AMG package wheels. I'm guessing the RXS will be on the GLE 63 in the US.

Thanks. At first I was disappointed that we couldn't order the RXS 22" AMG wheels but after seeing the RWB 21" AMG wheels in person, I'm happy and looking forward to giving them a home in my garage.
