That's the PA4, which is designed for cars, as you can see by the sizes. The PA5 SUV would be the correct tire. https://www.michelinman.com/tire/mic...-alpin-pa5-suv

GLE 350?
Maybe the 4 is okay in the GLC, but just can’t see it in the GLE. Plus (or minus) you lose the 48 volt system including EQ Boost and get a lesser 4Matic system.

BTW, no one seems to be talking about the Audi Q8, which is interesting. I've still to drive the Q7 and probably will this weekend with the Q8 (and A6 and S6). I'm wondering what others here think of the Q8, compared to the GLE450? I think both the Q7 and Q8 are bland on the outside but I don't look at myself while driving either. I have a motorcycle for excitement/fun commuting days, and my consideration - or lack of, for the X5 is basically because I don't think BMWs are model-to-model, as nice as Audi/MB. I hope no one minds my question, but I've been wondering, and it seems people are talking about the X7 and I'm still not decided on my next vehicle.

Thanks Greg for your work/volunteerism. I was actually back in this thread to see if there was an update.

You are close to the time that both should be building in inventory and maybe a good chance to compare them in real life. There really aren't any bad choices among all 3, IMO!
Edit-The Audi is longer but lower so step-in height is a little cramped. I do like the switch Audi made to Native Android for an operating system. I also like the open system that lets you modify some settings yourself for a small investment in OBD 11 or a similar tool.

If you don’t need a true 3rd row I would not go larger than necessary. Size comes with fun penalties as well as economy, of course.

I have a Q8 as a loaner while my Audi is in for a recall. It is a base model and while both the wife and I like the exterior looks and the glass cockpit, it did not impress either of us in the way that it drives. The ride is quite firm and the new turbo 3.0 seems somewhat rough. It does have adequate power, however. We also noticed the step-in height to be rather awkward for us ( 5'2 and 5'7). Fuel mileage around 20 in mixed driving. Our overall evaluation....meh, pass.
While we have not driven the GLE450, we are in the ordering process this week. I have been a lurker here for quite some time and really appreciate the wealth of information that is available. Thank you to all

They will be a bit less compliant, because they have shorter sidewalls. However, compared to the outgoing W166 GLE all the tires went up a size, meaning the 275/45-21 fronts, for instance, have about the same sidewall height as the W166's 265/45-20s. For the Pirelli Scorpion Verde the sidewall height is 4.9" for the 21s vs. 4.7" for the 20s. I have 20s on my current W166 and I think they are just fine.
Thank you, Greg.

21s on the new car are 0.2" taller compared to 20s on the W166. Compared to 255/50-19s (is that the size on your car) they are 0.15" shorter (not much).

My dealer called me yesterday and told me that he is trying to place my order and that there is an issue that locks MBUX tech package out. Hopefully, he will get it sorted out. I suppose it could be relative to the "assistant" feature that has been meintioned as not available.......dunno. Will just wait and see. I am not in a hurry.

I posted some time back that the Netstar system wouldn't let them do MBUX, and the dealer didn't know when it would become available again. I was told that the first time in February, and again a couple of weeks ago, so apparently it's not a simple issue. I suppose I can always cancel the order if MBUX isn't available when the build actually starts.

Production delay continues
I just spoke to the "executive referral manager" at MBUSA who was supposed to be looking into my build. He said he has sent my info to the "logistics team at the VPC" and is waiting for a response. My production started 5 weeks ago today! Frustrating!

Hope to hear some good news from Greg and Ron.
Placed an order for the third decade of May. Still in a dilemma whether to wait for it or start looking for one of the lot...!!!

Can you always cancel/change your order once you place one? Will that incur any fees or you lose deposits?
I contacted several dealers in my area and apart from 1 or maybe 2 who said "Late April or May delivery", most of them said the wait is at least for "3-6months", "June or July", "Late Fall", "production has not started for 450s yet" etc... I am looking to order 450 with most of the stuff (except E-ABC). And yes, the online representative from MBUSA.com also said they are aiming for July for new orders.

Deposits
You need to have that understanding with the dealer, in writing, when you place the order. Deposit may be refundable or not. I didn’t need to give a deposit because I’m a repeat customer.

Wonder why the VPC rather than someone at the factory? Would it be built and shipped but not updated? Seems like a phone call would have been faster. I didn't realize that yours was so far past the build date, was thinking 2 weeks+.

I don't understand dealers saying that GLE 450 production has stopped since mine was a 450. Engine shortage? Hybrid piece? I have never seen a rollout with so many issues-if you believe even half of what is reported.
