The slot in front of the wheel is functional for aero

The lip is actually there for aero. This was discussed in press releases regarding MY19 enhancements to the W205 C-class. “Aerodynamically enhanced AMG wheel variants” or something to that effect. We see this lip also on the 18” AMG split five-spoke wheel design that is shared on the GLE’s 20” AMG design.

The multispoke wheel design has been around now since the W222 S-class which I believe was a 2014 debut and would like a bit silly with additional aero lip. Plus: imagine cleaning them with the lip would be THAT much more difficult than it already is 😂

Actually the lip stops a lot of brake dust so mine are easier to clean by far than our Audi. I hadn’t thought about them being more aerodynamic, assumed it was to block the dust and make them stronger (shorter spokes).

No pictures, because it's depressing, but got a bad door ding yesterday. Haven't even had the car for a month! Ordered some lunar blue MB touch up paint today. Someday I'll get the ding knocked out, too, I suppose.

Paintless dent removal (PDR) people can do amazing things. Ask you local detail shop for a reference.

This is my fourth Mercedes in 31 years.

I always park way out in the parking lot far away from all other cars and yet it never fails when I come back in from the store and make my way back to my car.....far away way out in the parking lot there will be another car parked right next to me.

That would be me, parked next to you as I realize you are trying to protect your car so you won't ding mine either :D

Have you considered calling your dealer about the ding? I've had to get mine pulled out/painted, etc... several times and always go to my mercedes dealer. It's inexpensive and they have someone on call most days.

Will investigate this! Thanks.

I totally do this, too. If I have the choice of parking next to the dinked up Sentra with a missing bumper or a pristine Mercedes, I'm parking next to the Mercedes every time. I am super careful about opening my door, though, so I don't feel bad about it.

This was ordered before the June 2019 specs were finalised and hence I have a few extras which the dealer said were subsequently removed from standard spec eg artico dash, spare wheel even though I have run flats..

Another sunny morning.
The emerald flake is better in person. I’m so happy with my choice, and happier that MB offered the choice in the first place. My second choice was Hyacinth Red but it costs extra.

Finally found some time to take a picture. Apparently I am not a big fan of AMG look, still prefer the old look. :)

Ordered 04/02, delivered 07/15

How’s it feel moving from the GLE 350d to the GLE 450?
