Sorry that got cut off. If you ordered between Feb and June 2019, go back and reorder the same vehicle. They are leaving all the incomplete units until they catch up with production. So if you have been waiting for 9 months like I have, they will not get to our vehicles to rework. If you order a new one, it will go into production on a schedule and you will get in 90 days or so unlike the older ordered units. The older ones may sit for another 6-9 months until they catch up. They do not have the manpower to rework. This is a huge deal since those of us that ordered in March are getting screwed as new orders are being processed.

Not to mention that when you get the original vehicle it has been sitting in the weather for all that time and a new one may have minor improvements (running changes).

I wish that the 90 day part was true. We ordered a 450 in mid September and are looking at a mid March build - five months. At least delivery to Nashville is only a week.

I ordered my 450 in April and requested a mid September build at the end of our lease. Build date slipped to 12/4/2019. SA called 11/26/2019 informed me it was in B4 status. 450 built in two days in transit to the dealership in Utah ETA 12/23/2019 just in time for Christmas

Update: We placed our order on August 9, 2019, and it arrived to the dealership the weekend of December 28th. The dealership did its best to have it ready for a New Year's Eve delivery to me, but the protective film installation put it beyond the closing time; we all agreed that a quality installation was more important than a rush to the finish line. We took delivery of it yesterday (January 3rd, 2020), and now that we have it, it was worth every agonizing moment of the wait. (We love it!)

Of note: the vehicle was 'stuck' in B4 status for a while, too - the dealership General Sales Manager reached out to the plant, and upon that call it was 'located' in a holding area... waiting for final inspection. As soon as the vehicle WAS found, the plant moved the inspection date up - it was on a rail car just days later.

Good to hear, we ordered about a month after you. Was this a 450 or a 350?

For what its worth, I ordered in late August (maybe the 25th?) and I took delivery on 1/2. Dealer didn't provide any heads up, just an email to come and get it.

Allocations

For those who have searched afield for a dealer with an available allocation, what method did you use?

I wasn’t looking for an allocation, but I found my vehicle in stock in North Carolina by searching CarGurus, AutoTrader and Cars.com. You could do the same to more easily find contact information for dealerships nationwide and then just inquire about allocations. And, in the meantime, maybe even find a vehicle that matches your specs in stock.

Final Delivery and Refusal

Ok, from my earlier post on some realities of the situation on late deliveries, my vehicle magically appeared at the dealership on Jan 4 2020 after order placed on March 4 2019 and manufacturing completion on June 14, 2019. I refused delivery and placed a new order. Here is why.
Interior smelled musty and for a brand new leather clad interior, this was not acceptable to me.
there were leaves in all the cracks and crevices around the hood and the moon roof. Clearly sitting in the weather.
The headlight plastic was already showing signs of oxidation, clearly sitting in the sun for an extended period.
The tires were brown except where they cleaned and sprayed glossy stuff on them, again, not an issue but for a brand new car, it was clear this car was not to delivery quality.
there is nothing wrong with this but knowing this is not 100% up to standards, I refused delivery and reordered.

This is where the sales manager decided to “Talk me into” taking it and of course we did not and said we had until the end of the day to decide, we laughed at him and walked away. My sales person had the state of mind to acknowledge I was not 100% happy. They will surely sell this high demand vehicle but it will not fowl my garage.

Be careful of these sitting vehicles. There is a sticker just under the rear tire carrier are that shows when the rear floor was installed so it’s easy to see manufacturing data.

again, nothing wrong with the car but my own car sits in the garage 90% of the time so why take one the manufacturer let sit outside. Another 5 months to wait I guess or be enticed by some other brand in the meantime. Make sure you inspect your vehicle thoroughly if you have a concern. If the dealership would have taken the time to freshen up the car and clean up all the buffing compound left in all the cracks, I may have overlooked the little stuff but it all added up to less than 100% happy.

My order placed on July 18, 2019 just arrived at the dealership, on January 9, 2020. Nearly six months from order to delivery.

*I have referred to it as a June order on other threads. I got mixed up. It was July.

I've been monitoring my dealer's online inventory daily and today 01/16/2020 my original order arrived and is in their inventory. Over TEN months from original order date. Glad I took delivery of a substitute in November and am extremely satisfied !!!!

I ordered my GLE 450 in May 2019. As of today, Feb 20, 2020, I have not received the car. I was told that the earliest is April 2020. This is the first time I buy the car from Mercedes. I have never had this issue before with other car orders. What is the problem with Mercedes? It doesn't seem normal. I am about to give up.

Wow, long time to wait for your GLE 450. I ordered the GLE 450 on 7/19 and was told November 2019 for delivery, but got a build date for 2/20/20. Then in January 2020, I was told my build date got the change to 2/17/20. On Tuesday 2/18/20, my guy at Rallye Motors said my GLE 450 will arrive at the dealership on 2/24/20. The car is on the train right now.

Im betting your car is one of those sitting on the lot somewhere waiting to be completed. I would place a new order at this point if you are still interested in the car and I would not accept anything other than a new build. I placed mine around when you did and got mine last November.

My guy at Rallye Motors just told me. Ask your sales rep at the dealership and ask them to show you a screenshot of the system. Look in the middle where it says events and for my car, it shows 2/10/20 production started.

The problem cars show production from last year and yet just being shipped to dealers. So, all the GLE sitting in the Alabama sun baking for months will have a 2019 production date.

Even better, find one on a lot at another dealership. CarGurus.com, Cars.com and Autotrader.com are good resources for this. Many dealerships will ship nationwide (I found California was very resistant to this and some in Florida and Louisiana as well).
