April 5th MB Dealer Announcement GLE Production Delays

This is the official MBUSA Announcement to dealers today regarding the GLE Production Delays at this moment.

FYI - from what I see in NetStar - the Scheduled Production Dates in NetStar are staying what they are at this moment - I have not seen any Scheduled Production Dates that have changed/moved-out over the past two weeks on existing orders and future orders - what this announcement says to me is once the GLE has shown completed - that's when your Dealer will know that GLE is being delivered.

Thanks for updating us.

Today I am seeing some April Estimated Production Dates moving out 10+ days - so far February and March Estimated Production dates seem to me to be fixed/frozen - which is in line with the Announcement really. Units released to the VPC over the past few weeks seem to be sitting there - most being moved back to production and back to VPC as maybe/when parts are available.

Thanks again for keeping us informed.
So can I assume that my GLE 450 didn’t ship a week ago from the VPC? It was B5 on March 22 and shows expected delivery to the dealer next week. They must have found a fairly major issue to warrant this action!

Do they really start a car down the line if all parts aren’t available?

This is nothing new. When I bought my "13 it was delayed almost 60 days due to lack of parts. As soon as one option would come in another would be on back order. Unfortunately this is a consequence of "just in time" inventory management.

After the comment about Vehicles built in the last few weeks being held or moved back to the VPC for parts, I assumed that it might be to replace something defective. That would make sense if it is something they didn’t want done at the dealership. My GLE 450 was built two weeks ago.
I checked on mine today that was scheduled for delivery next week. The delivery date slipped a few days to April 15th. I had checked a few days ago so Mercedes is updating Netstar and since it was only a few days rather than a hold, I’m hoping that mine isn’t being delayed. My SA said that change of a few days is more normal and usually a more accurate estimate as a result of having the Truck transportation firmed up. They have not had any notice from Mercedes concerning any of their GLE’s in stock or in Transit.
Lots of assumptions on my part but I’m torn between being anxious to get it and worried about build quality! Hope to take delivery and an update on the 15th!

I kind of just give up and not think about it anymore, my company has a category of vendors suppling parts we call them “BUFU” Buy Us F**k U . They either demand high amount of deposit and take your money to run their business or they demand a little bit and take their time to figure sh*t out. Not much you can do, because you can’t hold any body accountable in their company.

With that official letter of delay, it seems to me if anything. It’s the dealership SA fault if the customer is pissed. Someone up in the production chain is washing their hands clean.
