If humidity was the cause they wouldn't align in most of the south and east coast. 70% humidity in Florida right now and the fuel door is aligned like new.
Current humidity is 82% in Tuscaloosa Alabama where they are made.

😂🤣
I know humid didn’t cause it.
Had similar problem on my GLC door panel wouldn’t close/lock after 6 months being bought.
Dealer kept it a week for new locking part. That was 3 years ago.

Please check again. The size and location of the gap is 100% the same with my stuck lanyard at the time. I am almost willing to make a bet with you. Move the lanyard a couple of times while trying to close it and see if that will make it fit properly.

I’m happy for you that it was only the lanyard.

Thx!
If it keeps on doing it will takeoff/cut lanyard next time. No real use for it.

It seems mine has gotten worse since I got the car. I double checked and it’s not the lanyard causing this misalignment.

It’s not horrible but should I get it fixed?

Def not normal. Dealer should be able to take care of this.

Cheers,

I am not sure about the entire door itself, but the painted exterior can be removed from the door black plastic piece.
With the door open, look at the gap between the painted piece and the black trim. There is a small opening where you can push down (toward the black trim). While pushing it, slide the painted piece toward you.
When you are putting it back, ensure that the door is clipped into place (the tab that you were pushing in the first step). Otherwise the door might come off during travel.

fuel door

Changed the fuel-door today (7 dec 2021).
I Was first in the store where I bougth the car (GLE 450), was told that the fuel-door gap could not be regulated.
I have now changed to another MB center (Bentley/Mclaren/Ferrari and Mercedes Benz).
I was served with coffe an choclate, and one hour later it was all done.
This has happened in Sweden, I think its because the Bentley/Mclaren and Ferrari owners get another type of service which has helped me.
JJ.

Easy fix, just cut the rubber cord!

Before

I just cut the rubber cord

And finally flush
was very easy, just cut the rubber cord who hold the gas cap, simple!
