Did they find you a battery yet? Curious...still no indication when I will get one for my 2020 GLE450. When did yours go into the shop? Mine has been there since December1, 2020. Getting real tired of waiting.

Have you received any further update on your battery issue? My 2020 GLE450 has been waiting for a 48 volt battery at Mercedes Benz Pompano Beach, FL. since December 1. Called a couple days ago, and they have no delivery date yet. Getting real tired of waiting. How long has yours been waiting for the battery? Not happy with the lack of support for this vehicle.

GLE 450 2021 YR. 48 VOLTS BATTERY ISSUE.
The 48v battery went dead after 230 miles on my new ‘21 GLE450. Could not be jumped and had to be towed. No replacement batteries in the US. My SUV remains at the dealership awaiting a new battery from Germany due 1.11.2021. Unbelievable. That will have my vehicle out of use for >30 days. So frustrating that Mercedes can do no better - roadside support and customer care ends after the tow truck arrives.
so ya something definitely going on with this 48 volts & 12 volts battery. As it has 2 batteries in the vehicle. Now I'm so frustrated that I don't know what to do even they replace another battery. I'm scare to drive anywhere, what if it happens again.

I have exactly same issue with my GLE 450 2021 model. Bought in Oct 2020. On Dec 7th broke down in parking lot & c!r won't start with battery sign, says "stop vehicle, look user's manual" on center dashboard. Called MB roadside, they tried & finally got towed. On Jan 7th, exactly after a Month got new battery installed & got the car home. Guess what, on Jan 11th, just in 4 days of brand new replaced battery my car died with exact same issue. Now it's in dealership since yesterday & they said it's the same battery issue.

At what point, and how, does the NHTSA get involved? This sounds like it should be a safety recall for you people with 450s!

I hope (for all of us) that it's just a bad batch of batteries for the most part. It won't be a comfortable feeling to leave town wondering if your car might quit miles from any services. This might be a concern on any electric vehicle longer term since you can't just stop at Auto Zone and pick up a new battery. Lithium batteries don't seem to gradually lose a charge like the 12 volt we know and love. I wonder how many Teslas have left the owner stranded somewhere...it has happened. Over time solutions might arrive but the inability to jump start or even tow the car adds another complication. Now you need a tow truck with a flat bed. Ignorance is bliss...I drove my 450 all over the West for 16 months without a care in the world with trips through central Nevada, the mountains of Colorado and Utah...no Cell service and hundreds of miles from a Mercedes Dealer. I will pack a few sandwichs and cold weather clothes for my next trip. No engine running-no heater!!!

The Dealer called me today to inform me that they received a new 48 volt battery for my GLE450! Finally after 6 weeks in the shop. Here's hoping this problem is resolved...but I'm not sure I trust this just yet, Unfortunately. It would be nice if Mercedes would confirm the problem has been resolved..I won't hold my breath, but If anyone knows more about this problem, or the resolution, please post. Thanks.

Here's a link to NHTSA's recall site, with instructions for reporting Safety Issues. You have to drill down. https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

I hope you're back on the road soon! Keep in mind however, this is a single point failure that totally disables the car and even if the problems have been fixed, LiPo batteries do and will go bad...often without warning. No different than a computer or cell phone.

Yes, There is a single point of failure in most things, BUT, one would think these catastrophic type failures would be designed out as much as possible, and when they do happen they are addressed very quickly. No one wants to pay 80K+ for a car you can't trust to drive anywhere far from home. Mercedes seems to be having these 48 volt power supply issues for well over a year now. I just hope these are the "fixed" batteries!

This battery failure issue might make the case for a return to the belt driven water pump. They might build a “work around” for the electrical components to let you keep driving or even to jump start the vehicle but if it’s not cooling then it’s not going very far before going into limp mode.

Fantastic! I get mine back tomorrow. Enjoy the car, It really is above the rest, if we can keep it running!! I also asked them to do the recall seat belt modification that I received while it's been in the shop. Figured I might as well get it all done. Lets hope for the best...fingers crossed.

The service adviser said my car battery has already been replaced. They are performing the seat belt recall now. Sorry, wasn't able to get a pic.

Since there were so many 48 volt battery issues reported here, I am curious if those of you who did not have problems yet, are considering having your dealer test the condition of your battery. If so, the findings would be interesting to hear.
