Distronics Display Question

I have the Driver Assistance Package Plus and have a question. I know this is probably a dumb question but I've looked at the owner's manual and didn't see the information so I decided to ask the experts here.

When you engage Distronics, should the center display automatically show the distance from the car ahead? Shown below is what the owner's manual says the center display should display.

I've tried to scroll thru different options for the center display while Distronics was engaged but none of them showed the distance information.

Doesn't show that on mine.

The GLE 350 we test drove showed the distance to the car ahead information in center display all the time during our test drive. We didn’t even engage the Distronics but the information was there.

Here’s a screenshot of a YouTube video demonstrating Distronics plus. Notice the center display showing the distance info.

You have to use the left button on the left side of the steering wheel to bring up the menu options. Use the left thumb pad to scroll right or left until you find the right display option then press the thumb pad to set the middle display.

To set the display on the right side, use the right thumb pad on the right side of the steering wheel and move the selection to the right display. From there, thumb up or down to find the distance display and press the thumb pad.

Thanks but I don’t see the distance display as one of the choices. Wonder if there are other settings I have to mess with?

It won't automatically show up. You have to scroll to the assistance menu and there will be a display that shows the distance to the vehicle in front.

Are you sure it shows the actual distance to the vehicle ahead? Or is it the distance that you have set the system to maintain?
I think it's the latter, and when the dash (or HUD) shows green, then that vehicle is within detection range.

It doesn't show the actual distance to the vehicle. you can roughly judge the distance based upon the number of bars visible compared to the distance readings on the right.

Thanks for spot-on directions to bring up the distance display.

And I believe it does show the distance to the car in front. I was driving with the display on but distronics not engaged and the distance displayed seemed to vary as the car in front got closer or farther.

Attached is what the manual says about the display. You can see "3" is Distance indicator while "4" is the Set specific distance portion.
