shop manual and engine oil
Questions
#1- I search around and I find pages of a MB shop manual, but I can not find where I can purchase or view, the big shop manual. Can someone please help me?
#2- Engine oil, in the owners manual, the oil specifications is blank. It says, to be filled in later. I asked the dealership and he said 10 W 40. Several searches on google say 0 W 40, which there is a difference. Then the owners manual is blank as to the amount needed to fill the engine. The dealership says 7 liters, and I can do the math.
Please help, I've tried the search and most likely not wording it properly. Thanks in advance.
James

I researched this a few weeks ago when I couldn’t get my A Service scheduled before a trip. There are only a few choices for the highest quality oil spec’d. My Dealer was able to make an accommodation to an earlier date so I went that route for my Service. My GLE 53 took 9 quarts and they used 5-30 weight oil, going from memory since I’m away from home now. I expected 0-20 like the last 4 vehicles I’ve owned. My 6.2 GMC truck and my wife’s SQ5 Audi ran Mobile 1 Synthetic and neither were ever a half quart low at 10k…even at 40 & 50k.
Edit-Mobile 1 has different grades of Synthetic oil and the best grade that meets Mercedes Spec is not widely available. As I recall it was about $10 a quart.

I have three of these (15.8 quarts = 2 services) listed here for sale (FL, $90) including OEM filters and OEM brake fluid if anybody is interested.
