it looks like the GLC Coupe will basocally come standard with what is the exclusive trim on the GLC300 SUV, just like in past years it has come standard with the Premium Package. It happens that the Burmester Sound System is part of the exclusive trim on the GLC300 SUV now. This Burmester Sound System will be the equivilent to the Burmester Sound System with Dolby Atmos on the GLE, part of the exclusive trim (which I suspect 99% of GLEs will have at least), not the outgoing high end surround sound system that was $5,400. That level of premium audio was never an option on C/GLC llevel vehicles. This is the "810" level audio not the "811" level.

So this "3D" system on the new GLC has 2 more speakers and 120 watts of extra power. Seems like MB is trying to do more with less, as a way to hide supply chain issues.
It's actually almost 2,000 watts. Looks like the Burmester site omitted the part about the built-in 400 watt subwoofer amp. From the MB website:

"A 1,590-watt amp combines analog and digital signals to deliver the most natural sound spectrum in any music genre. A total of 25 speakers includes a subwoofer with its own 400-watt amp, ceiling-mounted surround speakers, and LED-illuminated tweeters. "

That's correct. The diagram also doesn't show a couple pairs, when for instance, there's more than one center speaker.

Don't need a Burmeister for this music

Please do not misunderstand me; I'm a driving enthusiast who also loves music and appreciates the finer points of music reproduction and sound reinforcement. And yes, I do like it loud.

But at some point, these sound systems seem to come in conflict with the joy of driving. As much as I love music (and enjoy listening to it in my other vehicles), I more often than not have the dash-mounted sound system in my E63 turned off... in favor of listening to the symphony coming from under the hood and from out the tailpipes. Easier to hit shift points when you can actually hear what's going on, too.

A while ago, learned that some dude at AMG -- maybe it was Toto? -- would always start his AMG with the door open... just so he could hear the music even better. Ever since, I do the same.

The engines in these cars do sound great and all, but music is nice for those long drives down a freeway, being stuck in traffic, or just being parked somewhere waiting.

No, you're absolutely correct. I've been known in slowed/stopped traffic to embarrass myself listening to and singing to tunes up at 11. And if that's your thing too, then best to do it with an outstanding reproduction system.

Two things influenced my comment: 1) E63 isn't my DD, so when I take it out, it tends to be with the purpose of a spirited drive, and; 2) I was having disconcerting recollections of self-driven, multimedia mobile lounges I've seen envisioned by some automakers.

2024 X5 M60i, 2018 C63S Coupe (sold)
Welp gentlemen, it's been fun. Perhaps I'll look at a V168, if they make one, but this will do until then.

I got lucky and got an April production M60i allocation at my dealer and took it after playing around with the new X7 (same interior as X5) and using iDrive 8 with the curved screen. It's impressive.

Allocations for MY24 GLE 350s are showing in Netstar. From what I can see, build dates range from April to June.

If recent MSRP announcements are any sign, not until just before delivery.

BMW has pricing out on new X5 very odd that Mercedes won’t put pricing out. It’s hard to order a vehicle without a price baseline usually it’s a nominal price raise but for 2024 they added a lot of standard features to the AMG 53 so can be major price raise.

I was told by my dealer that the price for the GLE 53 starts at $81,500.

I think motor trend made that guess also. When I started to order a 2024 GLE 53 that was my dealer and my guess.
$81500 is about a 6% increase which even with the increased standard items should be good. I would think the MSRP would
need to be out in April to solidify builds from customers. Although I'm not sure of MB policy or process to release MSRP.

It is ridiculous that MB's potential customers have to guess what price their vehicle is going to be, like seriously just tell us the price, if BMW can do it so can Mercedes, it is not rocket science, it is not like if the consumer guesses a price (or in this case name a price) Mercedes will honour it for those who put in an order early.

I also don't understand how BMW has the 2023 M2 with prices ready a few weeks after the announcement in back in October last year and almost ready for delivery in a month or so while the W206 2023 C 43 is still stuck at the VPC, a car that was announced back in April 26 of last year.

Hope you enjoy the new vehicle in good health, you are always welcome back though if you so choose.

My dealer here in Chicago says I have to wait until July to place an order for GLE 450. Does that make sense? Note from CincyMBGuy seems to suggest we can order GLE 450 as of today.

They may have phrased it poorly to you, it could be that their available allocations are filled. Regardless, dealers can accept orders for existing allocations with build dates.

So allocations got filled up for 2023 GLE 450? So, I need to find a dealer that can still accept orders for existing allocations?

2024 GLE 450 allocations are out. However, it looks like a small allocation.

In theory, every dealer should have something. However, most dealerships are still dealing with a backlog of 450 orders. Your best bet is to call the dealers in your area and see if they have an open allocation.

Totally agree how could they have all the prices for all the options and no MSRP. Makes no sense.
