Question Battery in 350 GLE

I didn’t use my GLE 350 for about 8 weeks, I was in Florida. I got an alert from the Mercedes app that my 12v battery was weak. I understand that not using the vehicle for such an extended period of time, even though it was garaged may deplete the battery. Got home the other day and immediately took it for a short drive on the highway, the car started easily. The alert on the app remained, “battery partially charged “. Yesterday, had errands to run and drove on the highway for about 45 minutes in each direction. I felt this would restore the battery to full power, however, I still get the alert from the app. Can the battery be permanently damaged, the car will be 2 years old tomorrow. Any thoughts on this, I will be taking the car in for its second service shortly, should I ask for the battery to be replaced? Thanks

I get those alerts on our 450 occasionally, as well. Easiest is to hook up to a charger using the underhood terminals. And, of course, use a trickle charger if not driving for a long period. I doubt you've damaged the battery.

I Use a C-TEK battery maintainer when my 2020 GLE 350 goes undriven for 3 weeks or more to charge up until the charger shows a green light.
Keeping your battery charged up will prolong the battery life. I had a 2011 Acura MDX battery that lasted 9 years by using my C-TEK battery maintainer when the vehicle was idle for long periods of time. I had six vehicles at one time so some didn't get driven much.

I’ve never before had a car that depletes the battery so quickly when no driven much.

Interestingly, the app changed to”charged” , however, it then went back to “partially charged “ . Could this indicate that the battery is not holding the charge? Car starts without hesitation…

Normal.
Take it for another spin. App ain’t to be trusted.
I always press the lock button on the FOB twice to cancel the communication between car and remote. Don’t drive my car for a week sometimes and battery on app says fully charged.
My GLC 300 6 years still same battery.

It now appears that after a longer drive the app will show charged. If I should then use the vehicle for a shorter local drive, the app indicates partially charged. From an obvious perspective it looks like the battery is not holding the charge. I will need to bring the car in for a B service in the next several weeks, perhaps the dealer can give me a definitive answer on the battery status. I would think that the battery is still under warranty if it needs to be replaced.

Equally possible is that it didn't receive a complete charge.
It seems to take a drive of a few hours to fully charge. Just reaching the point where the app doesn't say "partially charged" any more, still needs to have charge applied to top it off fully.

Same with a battery maintainer - once they get "close," they still need to charge for a while to fully top off.

Can you spend a couple hours of continuous driving as part of your troubleshooting?

Fully charged means just that, fully charged. Partially charged can mean 95% charged or it could mean significantly less than that (say 60%). You can't tell the difference from the app. The only way to tell is to hook it up to a battery tester or a charger that also tests the battery capacity.
Your car is a 2021 right? So your battery is probably about 2 years old. IMO it would be unreasonable to think that a two year old battery would have full or even 90% capacity. Not sure what the concern is here.

What's your source for that app insight?
I don't have the exact thresholds the app uses for "fully" or "partially charged," but the app's behavior seems that it shows "fully charged" before it reaches saturation.
I.e. if you drive just until it says "fully," then it will only take a few days to go back to "partially." Take a long trip, and it will stay "fully charged" for more than a week.

To me that means "fully charged" has a range of charge status.
If you have a source that shows the app thresholds, it would useful to this discussion.
TIA.
