Why did you choose GLE over X5 (or others)

IMO both cars are complex hence one should expect to have many different settings. For BMW, I can hit setting and they are all there. Of course, some will take more than one step to get to. And that's why BMW's iDrive7 has eight buttons where you can assign to anything you want and can just hit to get to either a feature or setting you want. Lane keep assist is fine IMO. They also have different sensitivity levels. What caused you to trouble most likely is the steering assist. They also have different setting levels but I do agree steering assist can be abrupt and I do have that off. Since we're on assist topic, I have to turn blind spot assist off on the GLE. I know it's crazy to have to turn off that safety feature but it screams and scares the heck out of her, sometimes for no reason. I didn't believe her until I experienced it. Turning left at a light and it screams at you when you are on the left-est lane. I don't know what it senses but it happens quite a bit. It either sense the bushes or the car on the other direction. Even when turning into the garage, my garage is not even that steep but if screams like someone is going to get killed.
Regarding the crash alert, just don't crowd the intersection as much. That extra five feet you gain will almost certainly cause alerts. Loud ones.

"Active Steering Assist" is gentle and accurate, as long as lines are visible.
"Active Lane Keeping Assist" can be pretty violent, moreso if you approach the lane markings at an aggressive angle.
Like when you drop your phone and have Active Lane Keeping disabled.

But I press the 'car' icon on the console, to the left of the trackpad/palmrest.
It also gives access to the Lower When Getting In button.
That's on my '21.
- The split lift gate hatch
- The automatic cargo storage cover

- Remote start from the fob.
- Engine stays on when door is open
- Remote start can be done even when fuel is less than 1/3
- Plastic key
- Phone key that can be shared via a text too
- Car can be set up so it will unlock when you approach and lock when you walk away
- Wireless full screen CarPlay
- Built in Speed Cam
- An even road surface alert
- Rear seat belt alert
- Drive Recorder that can be used in case of an accident. MB has Dash Cam but one would have to start at the beginning of every ride.
- Eight assignable buttons that you can assign anything (setting or feature)
- A food tray for second row
- Iconic Sound
- Lastly wipers that actually work.

As I mentioned, some will argue the practicality of these features while others think they are great. But the purpose of this response is to stay BMW is not behind MB on features/techs as the other poster claimed.

I value my driving experience, comfort and reasonable control placement. And looks.
The X5 is lacking in those areas. Especially driving experience. I don't want a goofy looking car in my garage.
I know. You've said a few times too. Some said the same too. But I'm not the only one either. Many others experience same issues. It makes me wonder what "fine" actually means. Maybe I have a different definition of "fine". In fact I took mine in. They agreed it wasn't working the way it should. They "fixed" it. Guess what, they didn't. They cleaned them and now they're acting the same way.
Of course. And I respect that. It's a personal thing. But that's not the point of my post/argument. The other poster claims BMWs are two generations behind on features and techs.
