Safety first! GLE's brake upgrade, the formidable AMG kit

V167 is one of the rare luxury seven-seaters to be found on the market, from Mercedes, and the cabin space can definitely match the esteemed S Class but this also means a weight increase, namely 2.25 tons.
Of course, if you get your hands on one of these, you’d want to make sure that it’s equipped with the best safety features.
One of such features is the 6 POT with 1 POT AMG brake kit which also includes larger semi-floating discs (400mm and 370mm respectively), and just like that, more power to you.

Keep in mind that installation takes about a day, so get ready to leave your car for a few hours:

Behold, the complete set! I like to lay it all nice and neat before we begin.

My guys and I go to the gym regularly, to be able to hold these babies up for photos.

Are those factory discs? The ventilation holes on the factory set are cast in, where most aftermarket sets are cross drilled.

Drilling introduces stress points, which is less than ideal for a brake disc.

Does this include stainless steel brake lines?

They're factory discs. I receive them straight from them, unpack them myself, and after some QC (which is rarely needed, but I like to do it anyway), I let my staff book the installation.

Nah, it doesn't come with brake hose, you'll have to use your original ones, or you can order them separately.

@iCARMIX, what’s the cost of this upgrade kit…brakes & disc?

Cost will be exorbitant but need the part numbers more importantly.

OE AMG brakes have less than 1/8" clearance.
It's really hard to clean the calipers - even q-tips are too big.

GLE53 AMG wheel rim, we tested just right. no need spacer. Having said that, you can add spacers as well, if that's what you like

Can the caliper upgrade clear a 20 inch wheel? I know the MB upgrade from the factory will not.

If there IS clearance, then they are not OE factory.
I also notice that they are using the wrong bolts for the wheel - the Flower headed ones instead of the normal hex bolts, and with that wheel they should be black as well.

mbsl550.19 Aug 30, 2023 04:12 PM

Yeah I do have the factory 20 inch wheels. BTW my 2024 GLE 53 does have the flowered lugs nuts. Are the 21 inch wheels
and up have black regular lugs nuts? That car in the picture does not have the night package.

Also this https://icarmix.com/product/genuine-...lass-x167-suv/ website quotes a price of $48000 HK dollars so about $6130 USD.

You are correct - the Night Package has the black hex bolts.

I misinterpreted the pic as having the Night Package. If it doesn't, then the bolts are correct.
Worth asking about if ordering, IMO.
